Which is the cheapest and smallest DSLR available?

My thread is open for discussion even if OT, as long as the Mod allows. Ideas always start from somewhere so would not be so restrictive. Furthermore this is a discussion forum. I started with the intention to keep the search to DSLR as I like all things built into the camera, including OVF and flash. m4/3 while small but need to have external this and that, coupled with crop factor of 2x. I cannot picture myself holding a camera and composing holding it away from the face via LCD so NEX is also out. Are there other digital RF other than Leica? I chanced upon this Epson and am just wondering if it can hold DSLR lenses. Since it is not able to, RF is out as well. Just exploring my options.

I am looking for a small and cheap digital solution that can use manual focus lenses. BTW, for those interested, there are some interesting mini cameras from Minox.

How I wish there is a FF Nex. It is not as bad as people says about it's build and egronomic. On the other hand, it is light and able to mount any older lens with manual aperture control with adapter due to it being closer to the sensor without a mirror. But it is another story for those who cannot live without or needs AF. I have a friend who tried my FD 55mm f1.2 on his Nex and the picture is damn great with the creamy bokeh and sharp focus. Might be even better compare to the canon EF 50mm F1.2L.

Nex performance is also better compared to EP-1 and other Mirrorless due to larger sensor.

Yes, it is a 1.5x, unlike the 2x of m4/3. But then, you use the LCD to compose. I have problem holding both my hands up to keep the camera in front of my face steady. :)

The reason is because of the lightweight and no viewfinder to press your face against to stablise it. We are too used to the weight of heavy DSLR and pressing our face on the camera to stablise it. The trick is to find the centre of gravity and get used to it. I tried a NEX mounted with Zuiko Telephoto. If feels uncomfortable at start, but after a few more tries, I mamaged to shoot it nicely at 1/60 for a 200mm. I never use the NEX before with it's original lens as my friend gotten the NEX to mount older MF lens only.

You can consider m4/3 with EVF (G1, GH1, G2, G10) if you have problem using LCD to compose.

How about the new Pentax K-r ? coming soon.

Is there any other reason why you want the mirrorbox and OVF, aside from needing it to improve your balance?

The camera will come someday. Wait for the day. Thread closed.
