Which foldable tripod is most value for money?

2 assignments to pay for a T1204x ??? wow.. you rate must be really low.

Not really....with reference to video.

using it as a guide so minus expenses and also my remuneration for time spent on the projects, 2 jobs was pretty quick and both were on the same day.

Still got a bit leftover to put into the Sigma 120-300mm fund. :)

Just check my previous posts, ever since i adjusted my prices...i work less hours but earn the same and possibly more. But then again, you could be correct..will think about adjusting my rates upwards again in due time.

i hope no else gets it either, not overnight came out with a business model that not only works but turns out a profit. Good thing i went to the talks conducted by visiting photographers as they helped to tune it.

I wonder what is TS objective in the 2 threads he started

Sorry to hijack, which shops carry vanguard items?

Benro legs and Sirui head.

With hindsight now, Sirui G10 ball head and Slik Sprint pro tripod for good portability.

Regarding the G10,

1) Is it a must to use the L shape wrench to screw the plate to my camera? I know i can tighten it with my own fingers but is it enough???

2) Is G10 strong enough to hold 7D + 70-200 f4 IS in portrait orientation without 'creeping' down.

3) G10 plate looks so small. Grippy enough to stick to my camera or not?

I got the G20 instead, when I bought the sirui tripod. Personally I find G10 is ittle too weak for heavy setup.

Anyway it's only $20-$30 more for G20...

Hi, thank you for yr reply,

Do u use L wrench or yr own fingers to screw?

Use fingers can already la.

Whether u use the tool or fingers, just be conscious to check the screw every now and then if you are using the cam for number of hours.

I find foldable pocket tripod thingy by manfrotto good, never really use one before. Looks sturdy and good for low angle setup

I think the Sirui T1205x or T1005x with G10 is more compact...

That's what I had thought too.
So I just blindly bought the T1004x to replace my damaged Slik.
It only became apparent when I got home to compare the two that I found that the Slik was lighter, taller and slimmer (the T1004x was shorter collapsed)
(slaps the forehead)

The Sirui is sturdier though, so its a trade off here and there.
I liked the light weight and portability of my Slik Sprint pro, which I gladly took with me when needed.
Generally it has rather normal height and tripod capabilities in a light/small package.
Some tripods can be smaller/shorter, but they end up being pretty compromised imo (too short/low; too fiddly (eg. gorillapod) )
G10+Slik sprint pro would have combined the best elements for me.

If you got the CF version the T-1204x, it is only 800g. I think that will beat the Slik in weight. But the 16mm diameter of the slimmest leg shaft really do make a difference in stability.

I nearly got the T-1204x, but 5 section legs, less low height and shorter max height than the T-1004x made me choose the latter. (and the Slik is taller than them both)
Anyway, just use the T-1004x since I've already got it.

When you say value for money, do you mean cheap and good or best bang for the buck?

If former, I will agree Sirui T1204. If latter, Gitzo Ocean Traveller.
