Well, he was asking for the best and the sharpest, did he not? So why are we talking about second and third and fourth "bests"?

2. Canon 50mm F1.8
3. Canon 18-55(fair enough for it's price)

All for less than $500

This is a f/2.8 lens. What aperture are u using by the way?

tried different aparture, from 2.8 to 5.6
at 2.8, is abit soft under low light.
tried different settings under the same conditions, or vice versa
calibration of lens only for back focusin issues?
can i send it in to canon and ask ask?

Before you do that, have u tried it at f/8 and f/11?

i think it's prolly my 17-40 and 70-200 f2.8. i borrowed the 70-300 USM from my cousin and i really hated the plasticky build, and on top of that it wasn't that sharp.

With respect, I think this thread needs to be closed as forummers are now discussing aspects that has nothing to do with the thread topic.

But allow me to thank all those who genuine submitted their views and thoughts as I believe it helped many to look at some lenses in their purchasing decisions which otherwise would have been overlooked.
