Where to get Nikkon VR 18-200 lens???

Would you mind sharing the name of the chains in Jakarta, Indonesia? Today, I called most of the official dealer and they said it has been a while since they received the lense (official version not parallel import).

One thing I realise is that the big dealer or shop usually have no stock, rather than smaller shops, and it's also reflected on some online review of the lens where the reviewers, too found that they could find it on small dealers.
That's why you can find it some SLS shops, still possible I guess.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, I would probably think that Jakarta have shops that are better stocked than here...
For digital nikonians, the best you're going to get is a D200 and 70-200VR. Price-wise almost similar with singapore. Plenty of film bodies and AI-S lenses here though.
I've only seen that particular Artha Digital branch carry the 18-200 thought there are probably at least 5 of those stores scatterd around the city.

Thanks. I have called most of the dealer here but couldn't find one. You still could find it if you are willing to pay the inflated price (at least 4 lenses available in two separate location). Hopefully, Jakarta will also get the share from Nikon this month.

hahahaha.... i've seen people saying that more than half a year ago, never plummet.
there are many "observers" who is waiting for the prices in the shops to drop (which did not drop and always in shortage) and expect 2nd hand lens to be cheaper by hundred/s (even if it is brand new less than a week).
so it becomes an irony when knowing parties does not want to buy the lens available from b&s, while less aware parties are lamenting that they can't get one from the shops (and not knowing they can get the lens from b&s at slightly cheaper prices, $1200-1300)

things are like that, when there is no stock, people will always be willing to pay above market price for it, like some shops quoting $1400+ for it.... this is really crazy....
the more money conscious will wait for the "right" price before they move in and buy....
those who need it urgently got no choice but to pay high price for it...
for me, if sell above market rate, i wll definitely not get it.....
nikon is going to ramp up production sooner or later.... does not make sense to lose out potential customers when the demand is high...... and the price is at its peak....
they rather sell now at the lens' highest price then produce more and sell later at lower price...
so the right option is to wait.... for the price to drop back to a sensible level like $1200+ rather then pay the carrot or "chai tow" price of $1400++

that is why I recommended lord's earlier for nikon stuff. I dunno why they have so much stock.... much better than the other shops it seems to me.
