looks like the K5 II is shipping? :D

maybe only Jap market, cos the local distributor reply me its still in preproduction will launch only Nov or Dec

Not interested in the K5 II... it's the K-5 IIs that I want...
Will wait a bit this time... hopefully won't have early adopter issues like the K-5 sensor stain on early copies of the K-5.

K5/K5II/K5IIs all use the same sensor. I guess there won't be the same sensor stain issue on these two new players.

Pity we can't get those preproduction or prototype units to play play like we used to :( Otherwise it'd make the decision (of buying a K5II or K5IIs) much easier.

Hmm, I wonder how you guys contacted the distributor? Facebook or call them?

The official announcement from Pentax is that these two cameras would be available by mid to end Oct, and there is no announcement about its delay of shipment like the Q10. So I guess we'd see K5II/K5IIs available for purchase in Japan and probably elsewhere by end of the month.

Hope we are not going back to the pre-Emjay days: late arrival of latest Pentax new products, lack of excitement about the new releases due to late adoption.

Yah man only have to wait for the official launch, the interesting thing is that they said the image sensor is the same yet the new models is faster AF and better image quality, they said an improve on AF system, did not state there is changes on the image processor, maybe is an unlock/upgrade of K5 firmware, most importantly give us a great DSLR at good price!

Back then while looking for my first DSLR, I scoured the net like nutz before I came across Pentax.

The moment I held it, I loved it... Don't have the plasticky-crap feeling like the other camps.

I think you should go IMM, not sure Harvey Norman or Best Denki. I see they have a pink Kr, K-01 and K30 on display with some lenses. Not sure about K5 though coz I didn't see it..

Go check it out...
I think is Challenger at IMM, seen pentax there before, also Best Denki at Vivocity.

No more Pentax at Challenger IMM :(

Think due to the change in distributor, almost everywhere is out of Pentax. I tried several stores, all out of Pentax. I will wait for the K-5ii and see how it fares.

Ah... Ok, it's at Best Denki! LoL!

IF anyone noticed, NTUC starting to take in Nikon DSLRs. Wonder if APD can open account with them to sell pentax ones?

Wah! NTUC also can take in Nikon ah? :D

Well, I don't want NTUC to take in Pentax bodies.. :(

I want them to take Pentax lenses and place them in the $10/kg section... ;P

If APD is smart, they would be taking pre-orders for the new cameras right now...

On facebook, I did enquired if possible to purchase the K5 II/IIs early Nov 12, APD did mentioned it is possible. You can check their FB page on the acknowledgement.

Btw, their FB page is linked to Fengwei's outing on the 20 Oct 12. Not sure if APD asked for permission to do that before they put it on their FB page. Hmmm...

Hopefully they will make the price attractive enough! APD doesnt have any indication of pricing locally but we can still mentally prepare ourselves with Fujiyama's prices :D

If it is 1.7K still quite ok. But not sure if the 18-270mm will be launched at the same time. Would love to grab one of these multipurpose lens.

I think 1.7 K is not okay. Too ex already for something close to the tech two years ago. We need to consider the high yen price. Should be much lower in sg. Street price should be even lower.

i think the idea is that while the sensor is 2 yrs old, the technology had been "refreshed" with better AF - i know where u're coming from - its hard to get over the mental barrier that it is "almost the same thing".

if u already have a K5, i think its hard to justify lah. thats why most pple are looking at the K5 IIs rather than the II - the removal of the AA filter may be quite significant in the hands of more advanced users.

Hahaha! I'm sure Pentax's market share would shoot thru' the roof, especially if the FA Ltds' Holy Trinity are included; all in also less than 1kg^_^
