guys, the link in the paper has expired. what's the story about? I'm thinking of getting a lens from one of the shops is angsana.. any advice?

i think u r a nikon user from ur signature.
i understand that there r a few shops there,so ask ard :)

that shopping centre...i seldom go there cos it's...well....
jus watch ur belongings.
n try to always hv ur wallet infront of u if u r carryin a sling bag...
best not to be too flashy

Situation in JB is that bad ar?

Jb electronics stuff isnt that cheaper than singapore. Infact it cost slightly more.

C'on guys, crime is everywhere & depends on how suay you are to get hit. Comin back to CS question there is a reasonable shop at Level 2 Giant behind Pelangi shopping area behind SHELL station. Just beware of the accessory prices and do your homework b4 going there:devil:

yeap I am a nikon user. I'm thinking of getting 24-70mm f/2.8G ED lens. I've asked around the shops in Angsana, only 1 shop has stock and it is selling abt S$200 less with warranty by Nikon M'sia - I saw the cert in the box (but they claim also supported by Nikon Singapore).

There are other shops but the rest don't have stock and are selling cheaper by about S$100 compared to the shop that has stock. I don't trust those because when they dun have stock, they can offer you any price they want. (also u have to pay deposit if you want them to order).

The shop that has stock seems decent enough. The guy in the shop said quite a number of singaporeans buy from them esp the 35mm lens.

I'm still considering whether that $200 is worth it.. any thoughts?

Say the lens has problems and warranty not accepted by nikon singapore, so you need to take leave to send back to that shop on weekday to avoid all the jams at causeway and the hassel. If you don't mind that and the crime rate is going up as more & more foreigners in malaysia are out of job, then go ahead. saving $200 may seem alot but put to other $ and cts may not be alot if situation across get worse in future. nobody can predict the future. my $0.02 worthy of opinion. I do frequent anggsana for the groceries not the camera shop on top floor.;)

Just want to find out more about the camera shop on top floor. I have been there before, the salemen there seem ok. Do you have any unpleasant encounter before? If i din remember wrongly, there are 2 chinese and 1 malay guys there.

nikon has international warranty for their lens, BUT not on cam body.
as long as ur lens is a local unit with local warranty in the country of purchase, they should honour ur warranty claim.
u can check nikon sg website on the warranty policy, it's stated.

if it's cheaper, y not?
rm200, u can probably get a good filter for the len. :)

my suggestion is bring a laptop with card reader n ur cam body.
go ask them for permission to test the len and show them tat u r sincere and even brought ur laptop to c the pic quality.
then...ask for more discount!!!
;)

Try these shops:
1. Mee Too Photo - 1st floor, near the lifts.
2, Johan Photo - 4th floor next to Uda Ocean.
The rest can forget about it.

Bear in mind that they might have limited or zero stocks due to low demand, u may want to google for their phone no & ring them up before heading down.

I am not sure what you meant by the above. I always drop by Angsana everytime i go to JB. In fact, I just came back from a 2-day stay there. I got my 50mm/1.4 and mbd10 from the shop called meetoo or something like that. Bought a lot of my sports attire from alikhsan. Never experienced any problems there even while moving around with my gear. Always liked to take pictures of the events there... like inter-school dance, concerts etc.
Watching your belongings should be done everywhere! Singapore included... Try walking around crowded areas where festival bazaars are happening. People can get their bags ripped open in the crowd.

At any rate, i was quoted RM6700 for the 70-200 VR(white version). Thats around S$2760.

I am no Malaysian and do agree with some of the problems mentioned in many circles. But generalising may not be nice. May give wrong picture to others.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Thanks for sharing Sub, U the man.

thanks bro for the advice.. I think that's what I will do.. The shop is Mee Too (also mentioned by others in this thread). The sales guys looks pretty decent. His price is S$200 cheaper (not RM200) than SG prices. :-)

I think I will pay him another visit this weekend :-)

For the record, I shop in Angsana quite frequently too, I think the place is decent enough - like someone mentioned, you have to be careful of your belongings everywhere regardless.

Hi..Angsana Mee Too is a nice place to go...they are honest too...price cheaper also....

I google and found their number: 607-2353319.

Maybe its good to call them to check the stock before you go down, it's not safe to bring a lot of cash around in JB.
