I was in Tokyo recently and got a really nice 35mm fuji film casing from Yodobashi

So the bad news is that the 120 film case has been discontinued

Would like to know how you seasoned medium format shooters normally carry your film while shooting in the field?

Loose in a section in the bag, or in a ziploc bag.

Small rectangular leather pouch bought while i was in Africa.
I don't actually think the film needs much protection anyway.

Rubber bands are unsightly but they help me keep my Kodak 120 films tight after i'm done with the roll.

That looks like a very nice box for film...

But again... my philosophy is... if I protect it so well... I might not have the heart to shoot with it. So I usually throw them into plastic or ziploc bags when I am on the road.

And hard cases/boxes take up real estate in my luggage/camera bag space. :)

You can also get a x-ray proof bag from Cathay Photo. The medium size one is good for about 6 rolls of 120. It's lead layer provides padding and also insulates the film from heat. Good for holidays when you have to go through the airport or cruise center.

Follow this link to see how it looks like.

Don't really see the rational in having one for 135 film since they are already in solid canisters? and further more, they actually do come in their own containers...

120... well, usually i put them back into the original box it came with. heh.

Whatever works for you I guess.

well i do. because instead of carrying 10 individual containers and having to open each container to get to my roll of film, i have 10 rolls of film ready in front of me. I can just unload/reload into my camera really quickly like a machine gun's magazine.

especially handy when shooting events like weddings. i simply don't have the time to open each individual container. Before the wedding, i prepare by taking 10 rolls out of their containers and putting them into the box, and just bring the box to the wedding.

rubber band .....

120film comes in foil wrap packaging which i think is protection enough

BUT if you REALLY want to use a container....... improvise...... there are alot of non-photographic solutions available

eg Otterbox http://www.otterbox.com/waterproof-cases/otterbox-2000/
eg Backpacker's First Aid Box
eg Fishing Lures container (beach road fishing stores have ALOT of these)
eg some types of mobile phone packaging boxes
eg corona-sized cigar boxes
