Hi guys, after some research I am keen to purchase the Maha Powerex MH-C-801D charger. I understand that Eastgear does sell it sometime back at S$129 but now it seems no longer available.

In fact I have checked the Eastgear website and found that the only Maha charger they are selling is the Maha Powerex MH-C-808M. Even the Maha Powerex MH-C401FS and Maha Powerex MH-C9000 WizardOne Battery Charger & Analyzer are not available.

Are there any other places that I might be able to purchase the Maha Powerex MH-C801D charger? Or is there a better charger besides this?

Other alternatives would be for me to purchase from Amazon and shipped via vPOST or to buy from Thomas Distributing which actually provides direct shipping to Singapore.

All advice and comment are welcome. Thanks.

I am also looking forward to purchase my second MH-C-801D battery charger. Checked with Eastgear a couple of days ago and they said stocks will be coming in next week. Just wait for a while more.:)

For its price, the MH-C-801D is currently one of the best charger available in the world-wide market.

Your other option is the Techoline BL-700 ,or similarly the Maha PowerEx C9000 WizardOne charger. Both are the exact same charger except for their brand name.

The MH-C-801D charger's circuit board is made from FR-4, with a UL 94V0 rating. This is a high-grade fire-retardent material which is also moisture resistant.

Charging your batteries in cold weather or in an air-conditioned environment, when condensation is at its highest, can lead to potential issues, and it's nice to know the MH-C-801D has this grade of material to prevent condensation from accumulating on the charger's sensitive 'climate'.

And even if you're in a geographic area which have high humidity, the MH-C801D's charger is also resistant to accumulated moisture. This makes the 801D an excellent charger.

You may want to try TK Foto.
Remember seeing some there but better call and check.

Yeap.... reconfirmed with Eastgear today. The next shipment of MH-C801D charger had left Taiwan on Dec 31st, 2007 and should arrive in Singapore next week.

the other time i actually posted on thread on sharing shipping while purchased directly from thomas-distributing ..
3-4sets will be good enough <200USD to avoid GST, somemore USD weakening

the price we buy from SG .. can get at least 8 eneloop batteries
but the downside - if spoilt have to send back.

anyone keen?

Hi guys, great news. I just called Eastgear and talked to this Edrick guy (not sure if I spell his name correctly) and he said that the Maha Powerex MH-C801D charger will arrive mid of this month but call to confirm.

The price is at S$141 and it comes bundle with 8 Powerex 2700mA batteries. Consider the retail price for 2700mA is at S$22 for 4 piece pack, that would leave the charger to cost S$97.

Furthermore if we are keen to buy the Imedion batteries, he would give us discount at S$18 for 4 piece pack. He mentioned that if he is not around, we could look for Gilbert and told him that Edrick (I apologise if I spell it incorrectly) authorised that.

Given this latest information, I guess it is definitely worth the wait, for the charger at least.

We could still get organise to buy batteries in bulk from Thomas Distributing or Amazon if we have the numbers. The delivery charges are pretty high though.

MS Color sells this charger for $129 with 4 PowerEx 2700 batteries.

oh. so if we deduct the retail price of S$22 for the batteries, the charger would cost S$107 then. though the "offer" by Eastgear if better if we take the 8 batteries bundle.

does ms color have stock?

Not worth buying from Thomas Distributing. Reason being that they don't pack their merchandise well. The last time I ordered something from them, the sides of packing box was ripped open and the styrofoam peanuts were half emptied. Luckily the merchandise I ordered was still inside. What if I had order something smaller. The contents will go MIA.

That is just a rough quote from Florence. I think she can give a better discount. The last time I bought from Eastgear, the charger with 8 PowerEx batteries costs $169!

hmmm so the latest offered price of S$141 charger with 8 batteries is worth the wait then.

i was looking at thomas distributing and amazon, their sanyo eneloop batteries are pretty cheap compared to the price here. if we are able to get a mass order, we could have some savings.

MS Color sells the 4 AA Sanyo Eneloop for $16. From my experience, I actually don't recommend using Eneloops for flash units. Reason being AA Eneloop batteries are rated at only 1900MAh. You will find that your flash don't recycle as fast. I have missed a couple of shots because of this. The best is still PowerEX 2700.

i see. thanks for the clarification.

i would be using the slow discharge batteries mainly for my son's toy remote control car.

S$16 for a 4 piece pack is the cheapest i have heard locally for sanyo eneloop. is this the normal pricing for them or you need to be their regular customer to enjoy such discount.

No. Just ask for Florence. Anyway, they sells the PowerEx 2700 for just $18 for 4 pieces.

I used to play with 1/10 scale RC cars. RC cars actually runs better and longer with NiCd batteries. Also, NiCds are cheaper too.

Go to Unicell on the 2nd level of Sim Lim Square (opposite the cafe). They carry all kinds and types of batteries you can ever imagine. Their prices are very reasonable too. Go there after 11am or before 6pm.
