look at it at the bigger picture and i think services here are really going down the drain.
99% Services ppl or sales personal cant even communicate properly.
Majority dont understand customer needs and only give wide smile which is useless.
you will know what i mean as these is kind of sensitive issue.
I guess we're all surprised when Singapore moved UP the rankings in terms of service. Let's face it, large no. of Singaporeans don't even posses basic courtesy so I think it's just not the service sector only.
I especially find road courtesy in Singapore to be almost non-existent. But that's another thing altogether.

John 3:16 service is excellent... always buy from there. My worst experience is Bally Photo. went there looking for a 58mm IR filter. When i asked how much they selling, the guy just look at me and ignored me, prob cause i am a kid. then when i ask again, he quotedd me 85.... :angry: other shops are all 60-65.... then another time, i went to Bally for a quote on a batt grip... he looked at me and asked in chinese whether i was buying or just asking... i walked out and bought it elsewhere. never did even walk past the shop again. even if i need to go the other side, i will walk one big round around funan

u mean grey sets? they are still made in Japan but have no warranty.. if anything goes wrong u will have to pay for repairs
Another lousy store. I remembered when i went to Bally photo, the guy thought i didn't know anything. I asked about the 430EXII flash, he quoted me around $300+, i was shocked, it was really cheap. So i went to the other stores and looked for the best price, everyone was quoted about $400+, so i went back thinking it was a good deal. In the end he told me it was a grey set and he had no stocks.

The prices from The Camera Workshop seems cheaper than the rest by a bit.
But I guess it is the whole package in terms of services and price.
I know it is at Coleman Street. The building opposite funan, one of the many camera shop there.

For grey sets, not much difference. For 2nd hand cams and lenses, they're more expensive than the rest.

Sometimes, I will pull a "fast one" by saying, "Didn't you quote me $50 lower?"
Then, I will wink wink at him, jokingly. Even Samuel can't remember all prices he quote.

Sorry, but what are grey sets? Do they only exist for L lens or for all Canon lens? Any method I can use to tell if it is or isn't a grey set?

grey sets refer to sets without local (singapore) warranty. generally obtained from overseas at a cheaper price. the downside is the warranty will not be covered by canon singapore. each shop has its own warranty policy.
