Where to buy L lens

Yup, I bought a cheap EF50mm 1.8 from AP, but got focusing issue, so i return 2 days later..they reluctant to help me and say no stock, refuse to help me get it exchange even when i offer to leave the lens there until they replace it..all sorts of reasoning until I'm very disappointed..yeah that was a cheap/low value purchase, but hey I'm looking for an L lens now, I won't even consider them.
MSCOLOR on the other hand is very service oriented. Visited them today to look for the lens, their only copy is having front focus issue, took me a while to test and finally i rejected, but they were kind enough to let me test other potential lens but at the end of the day i left without a purchase..They did not even show any sign of disgust or displeasure..but told me they will bring in new stocks asap so that i can visit them again...tt's service
Another shop that has this kind of good attitude, is John 3:16. Really good service. They let you try and give you good advice. At the end of the day, even if you don't buy anything, they always send you back with the good feeling, rather than to show poor service to the customer.

yes i totally agree with gman...they remembered my face although I only go to their shop less than 5 times...new or old customers, they will treat everyone equally :) sam of J3:16 once told me: " you don't buy in the end also never mind, I'm happy you're here." or something like that :)

Yeah. He's a nice guy. Stephen is nice too. Infact, all the people are nice there. And they always call you "bro" Haha...very friendly and homely feel. I like the verse from the bible as well.

They sure will remeber me forever. I went to their shop quite frequently. Bought something, every single time. Haha...i once also spent almost a few hundred dollars at their shop. Haha. I still can remember, that it was the first shop i went to after buying my DSLR, and i've been going there ever since.

Marked in a good manner. Considered a friend, once you step into that store. Haha. Speaking of, the next time i go there in a couple of weeks time, i should buy them coffee. Nice bunch of people.

I also had bad experience with Alan Photo at SimLim many years ago, and since then I never visited them anymore.

I also experienced that CP not very good customer service, tend to ignore and quote steep price (i bought my infrared remote controller last time from them for my 400D, and with that attitude, i said to myself, it would be my last-last-last priority to shop there unless their price is damn super cheap).

MS Color and John 3:16 are :thumbsup:
I frequent MS Color more because their price is a bit cheaper :P


Ditto. I absolutely abhor this kind of attitude. I agree with you on AP, experienced it there. I had the same experience with CP-Marina. :thumbsd:

I went in the shop and looked around the shop(for about 10mins) while being totally unattended, while a tourist stands outside looking at the displays and gets approached in such a friendly nature and they(CP ppl) got brushed off because the tourist ignored them and walked away.

Honestly speaking, if you know or are from any of these shops or have close links with them, maybe you should advise them. Firstly, we don't owe them a living. Having a shop and sitting in it and just glancing at me without approaching me? I'm quite appalled. They just lost $3000 from me. :thumbsd:

I think a quick justification would be: "isolated incident"
But if shops adopt this mentality, the only true losers are them.
 

I bought my L at John 316 too... although the price is a little bit more ex than CP.... i rather buy from them cos their service is nothing to say....

Heavy discount cos it's considered 2nd hand mah.
 

I find their service to be very selective. If they think you look like you have no money or aren't willing to spend, they'll not attend to you sincerely; the moment a tourist walks in, it's all smiles. I have been treated like the former, though I was genuinely interested to buy something.

This kind of selective service attitude disgusts me. I will never step into AP again because of it.

Couldn't agree more. On hindsight, I kinda regretted buying my first DSLR from them. Should have given the business to John 3:16 instead!
 

Wah AP getting a lot of flak man! Wonder if they actually know that most of the community is pissed with their service standards?

Anyway just wanna clarify with you guys here, if my L lens screw up while under warranty, I go to Canon for checking right? Not the shop that sold me the lens?

Also, are there such things as parallel imports for L lenses? Like "cheaper" variants not made in Japan (perhaps in places of cheaper labour) but have roughly if not exactly the same QC?
 

I was at AP funan once to enquire them abt a particular lens. Sad thing is they insisted that the lens that i want does not exist. The best part is they are the agent for the lens. Carl Zeiss.

I keep asking the staff in scarstic manner, "Are you Sure !!" many times.

But As i thought they are id***s to get the hint.

I find AP Simlim is much better even though they can be a pain in the ass.

I always look for Sam when im there. I rarely get any lens from them though but lots of other accessories.

I rather spend at a place with high quality service.

Singapore Services everywhere is droping. They want cheap labour so we have to suffer.

We are actually becoming a laughing stock to tourist and foreigners due to all these
 

tourist and foreigners won't laugh at us wat. they get the superb service: "GOOD MORNING SIR! CAN I HELP YOU? *big smile*"
