Just joking....on the serious note, me and my clients have an understanding. We do have a very very plain black and white. Not too sure how elaborate yours is. So far so good, touch wood lar!

TRUST???!!! *faints*
Lets see how 'trust' can held up in the court of law! :bsmilie:

Btw, my contract served both sides as AD wedding is a mutual thing. It won't work without the co-operation on all sides. It lists out the responsibility of the photographer and clients. The clients would be happy to see it and so am I the videographer.

ya can see yours is almost as elaborate as mine but i only use mainly for my commercial side as it USE AS A WEAPON to bring them to court. SOME Advertising agencies are just full nonsense. Do you know up tilll today, there are some of them actually still can lie to me and say BOSS out of town, boss haveing meeting, boss is on leave, boss is having lunch, boss.....blah.....?

Had a few incident where saw one of the boss of a advertising agency holding hands with another woman (China woman, his mistress)....(just happend to know his wife). So of course was lucky, I approach him straight away.....and he got shock! Hehe......BTW he owed me close to $6,000. So the very next day, he called me and told me the cheque was ready!!!! Keke.....i cannot stop laughing! Until today he still gives me jobs and pays me on the dot to keep my mouth shut. He is still with his mistress.....hehe!

I think his mistress is much better off as well(gorgoeous too).....as his wife is really a pain in the back. Nag nag nag and all day nag!

Hmmm.......this is very rare.....well. So far none of my customer have encounter this contract thingy based on ADW. Commercial jobs yes but ADW. Let me think about it. I will PM you.

In normal situation both parties will get protected if you draft out a contract properly. Always work towards your advantage. Let me think and get back this to you. Are you in a hurry?
neh no hurry..

i dun think she's all that formal, she just wondered if there is any contract that i will sign for her. i mean i was gonna say, no, usually this email serves as the "contact" but i guess she has every right to want it with my signature, if she desires. but so far she's not demanding, more like an enquiry. i just thot i better do my homework b4 replying her.. eheh

I know them only too well. Most of my friends save for a few have all left the advertising field. Never know how to reward their staff for nuts!

Bro, I surprise you haven't hit the nail yet in Singapore where our clients are less than happening. Just a matter of time before you'll meet the ultimate cheapo clients who twist and turn their way to your early retirements.

I am still thinking of putting up more in the contract for safety pre-cautions incase of any future dispute.....

I have a similar printed version, but the rough guidelines are there. Feel free to modify the way you like it for print or email. :D

Tell you what, that's where the word 'Deposit' came in. Print it and asked them to sign up along with a modest amount for reservation of the date incase of changed of minds! Let them feel a sting! :)

How long have you guys been doing this??

Email contract is a contract, verbal contract is also a contract. The thing is, how the hell are you gonna enforce it and to what cost??

shooting weddings for two years already. usually, like pro image, we don't get down to printing out documents, both sign, one copy each. and i guess (lucky me!) i've never had major problems before when customer refuses payment becos of disputes. again, there hasn't been any disputes that i can even remember, so i guess either i'm very lucky, or my work is very precise to wat they expect! :P

i think MOST pple that take freelancers know that it isn't normal to have so much documentation. even when they pay my deposit, they will do a cheque or bank transfer to me, i told him at least if anything happens, u will have the bank record to prove u paid to me. i seldom accept cash, so as to protect them. maybe i should just get a receipt book and issue to them...? (and at the same time sign on dotted line...)

yeah that's wat i meant.. does it hold in court?

i think the contract is mainly for peace of mind for both parties. neither parties would like to enforce the contract on the other, better that all details be ironed out and both expectations are in line PRIOR to the day. :)

so far my sixth sense are quite ok.......

but i do write out a contract on if they want too shoot. my rates are $1000 a day and above. so if they are cheapo, they will not look for me. most of my clientele are good pay master.

so i will not do anything less than that for commercial shoots. so el cheapo clients will look for el cheapo photographers!!!! keke........

as for weddings, 50% of the payment will be paid to me prior to the shoot. this is to make sure they do not back out last minute. keke.......
