Where do you host your images?

Hottest Photo Sharing Sites

Just to check. I went to Flickr and the charges are by per year. Do you know what happens to the photos previously uploaded if you decide not to renew?

IIRC, the photos will still be there. Just that you cannot display more than 100 photos. Do check their FAQs.

They hide the pictures above the most current 200 pictures. They will be un-hidden when you pay for a renewal.

But if you choose to delete the account, then everything will be deleted.

U will also end up having less numbner of of sets that what u got. Although u will have more than the 3 set limit.

Pay and u get them back. There is a slightly cheaper 2 yr subscription plan
if they only have an even cheaper 5 yr plan :P

www.photoshop.com

It's got a 2GB storage limit, but unlimited bandwidth.
Also, the plus point is you can edit your pictures with the online PS tools. :D

Hi all,

Does Deviantart website allow you to upload unlimited photos even with a free account?
As i know Flickr website only allows you to upload a certain amount of photos with the free account, unless you get a PRO account.

Please enlighten me :D

Thanks :)

Yes, you can upload an unlimited amount of photos with a free Deviantart account. For the paid account, you get ad-free surfing, advanced customization of your profile page, complex viewership statistics and other small upgrades.

Deviantart is built more towards the general art community rather than just photographers, unlike Flickr. You'll find that most of the entries there are drawings, paintings and the like.

I host my photos on DevArt.

Flickr Pro. Definitely worth the money, especially if you want an offshore backup of your pictures.

- Unlimited uploads (Originals are kept)
- Unlimited sets
- Tagging (including geotagging)
- Participation in various Flickr Groups (thus you can join groups for C&Cs if you want)
- Accessible from my workplace (smugsmug, picasa etc are blocked in my current workplace)
- 3rd party tools and integration with Facebook (among other things)

:Later,

Thank you inveritas for the information,it was very helpful :) guess i'll use deviantart as i don't have any credit cards to pay for PRO accounts at flickr.haha ;p

I use Zoto. Unlimited photos for a minimal fee. You can create albums and tag your photos and when you upload a photo, it will keep the original file size.

I would like to ask if diviantart allows batch uploading or isit just one by one :dunno:

You can batch upload photos to a "temporary area", then select the photos you want from individual pages of art submission forms. The pictures in the "temp area" will show up in the forms. Not too sure if you'd get my explanation though. It's complicated.

Thanks inveritas, yes it sounds a little complicated but i guess i'll get round it.hahah! ;)

how abt facebook?
i think facebook is not intended for hosting images.
and what's more i think they will resize all your images and you won't be able to retrieve them in the original size.

Facebook...has the right to distribute your images according to their TOCs (last I heard). Not too friendly for portfolios I guess, unless you have really huge and disturbing watermarks over your photos.

I use "boomspeed" a fee paying hosting service. For USD $6.00 per month, I get 1 gig and web mail service as well. Check it out...

http://www.boomspeed.com/

??? mine is bluehost. USD4/month.

I get free domain name, UNLIMITED BW, UNLIMITED diskspace.

U get to configure any email accounts u require + a very good control panel and all sort of scripts if you want to run some site. It is really ridiculous the stuff they give for so small a fee. I just started with them for a month. my old host was iwi.com.sg. But bluehost is one of the biggest hosting companies so should be allright, I hope.

I use Picasa Web.

I do my post-processing using LightRoom and export them to a folder, which Picasa3 is linked to and upload it easily..

Flickr and photobucket at the moment.

Seems like flickr is the way to go... :bsmilie:
