eh, max, jokes aside. think u really need to go bang tables tomorrow already. this is crazy, man... never heard of service centres dropping lenses and still dare to send back to customers... really got bola... :what:

I looked straight into the courier's eye...I think he dropped it, not the service centre...he dun dare to look at me straight...keep asking me to sign the paper so he can go...I just took my time to check the lens. I dun have the lens now, its back in the service centre...because I rejected it. But they say they will send it back to me tomorrow.

Actually, i quite sad because this lens was the only L that I didn't bear to sell away beginning of this year when I have some financial difficulty...I used it for outdoor portraits, to zoo, to JBP, shoot birds... sigh...really loved its sharpness, contrast...everything....Evern when I found out its got a bit of back focus, I didn't send it in. But no choice, kana fogged, have to send it in...
 

I've found that the best way to deal with situations like this is to be firm but not rude. Uttering a rude word or gesture means you've already lost half the battle as it brings you down a level.

I had a similar situation with Canon regarding the servicing of some gear and I asked to see the service manager to voice my concerns. At first, he wouldn't agree to my request so I kept repeating myself until it wore him out. It'd help if you try to escalate it... try asking if you can talk to his boss if he won't relent.

If indeed the lens has been dropped, you certainly shouldn't have to accept it. A replacement would be in order. I can't believe they tried to return it with a cracked cap, it's so obvious.

but was the lens in like bubble-wrap and all? cos i think if it was bubble wraped then depending on height of drop, i dont think the lens cap will become goh-yak like that la..

very concern about the outcome of this affair.

feel for u,
though i don't know how to help.

when my 20D's strap lug rusted within 100days,
canon too gave me a reason that's totally
out of this world.

that's 1 reason why i buy from overseas now,
it doesn't really make a difference.

Its not only cracked, it cracked and I think the force of the drop, forced the cap into the front of the lens...

No lah, not your lens...but your lens have serious back focus problem after 10m-infinity.....
My few wedding shots were blurred... focus when to the back....hehe...but I'm still keeping it...just used it within its range...the contrast and bokeh...:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 

send it back for calibration,....
no, better not,
wait another broken lens(cap).
but if they replace u with a new item,
then :) u send it back.

Yah, L some more....2k+:bheart:
 

Oops...sounds like the 24-70 f2.8L. It's the only 2K plus lens and can shoot portraits.

Does not sound Canon at all. They are extremely professional and efficient. They WILL NOT send back a lens that they broke. I am most certain it was the courier and he was afraid he would have to pay for the lens.

I think you should talk to their manager and insist (nicely but firmly) that they should change the entire front lens group and if externals are scratched, replace them.

You shoot lah, I call or you want to call?...I decided to call them to stop them from sending it back to me first.

I hope can ask for replacement lah...dropped lens...I have doubts...
