revolutionary vs evolutionary?? improvement of mk2 over classic - besides video, new sensor, upgraded digic chip, much better lcd, higher iso capabilities, auto iso (except for M mode) and sensor cleaning system?

You forgot the AF.

Eh, I thought mk1 n mk2 AF abt the same? Don't think many people bought mk2 for the AF!

Many chose the Classic precisely because there is no difference in AF between Mk2 and classic.

lol Of course you're correct! Thought it's about mkII and mkIII.

should add one more option.. "already bought" :bsmilie:

if the above statistics is true, the price adjustment may come earlier. there are many people interested in buying but only about 36% is willing to buy now & the rest is holding.

dont think the price will be adjusted that early. in sg, stocks level still looks low to me and there are more buyer still searching for body only. In US, the camera is still not for sale yet.

for current price, already so many ppl (working pro and hobbist) dont mind paying for that high price.

I think maybe got quite a few who voted to wait n see ended up buying one last weekend! Lol!

Bearing in mind of course that the actual street price turned out to be quite low relative to the guesstimates. Just look at the sudden spike in mk2s in BnS!! Some of them must have decided after they found out the actual street price.

If wait for a few months, price should drop further....

I already said... those wait and see.... when they see 5D3 power... all will jump in and buy buy buy!!!! :)

think even if i see the power.. i wont jump in and buy...seriously, the price cannot justify just for hobby (my POV).

cause:
1) not like using the 5D MK3 will greatly improve my photogrpahy skill
2) i dont print large, not even on 4R. so super clean high ISO is not required when i resize and post in the web
3) Dynamic range? too noob to able to see the difference when i only post in the web after photo resize
4) looking at others very very nice landscape photos and sports photos (all taken from 7D) , i still need to improve my skills (free. no $$ required).. not upgrade of camera. lol
5) dont have the luxury to go out every weekend for hours to take photos
6) prefer to have 17-55 with IS for shooting video. IS does matter for video !

so with all the self-console excuses as above... i am sure i don't need it! :bsmilie:
love to have but only when the price drop to $3k (maybe 2-3yrs later)

just to note. this is PURELY my POV. :bsmilie: which works for me.

It works for you only..... not all man are made the same....

That's why I am still on 7D.... and will be there for another 4-5 yrs I think...........

17-55mm, I find it short at times when I shoot events.... But it is a great lens...

which is why i mention , purely my pov. I'm also on 7D now. if u really want more range, equip with 2 body. thats how i work when i was shooting wedding. but i dont go for longer than 70mm on 5D.
1 body with 35mm
1 body with 24-70

so its up to ur shooting style. too bad there's no good lens from wide to longer. well. it will be heavy for sure if any. look at 70-200mm. or go for 24-105mm since 5D Mk3 ISO is so good.

if i'm still doing freelance, no 2nd thought, i will go for 5D MK3 for sure since i can cover it back. but for hobby.. its a different story.

dont get me wrong that getting 5D Mk3 just for hobby is a waste of money. as mention, different ppl , different POV , different lifestyle. what works for me might not works for u, Vice versa. some have other commitment, some dont have.

most important thing is u r happy with it~

I think for my coming DnD, I will be going with the following set up:

1. 7D + BG + 17-55mm + 580II
2. 400D + BG + 85mm + 420

Of course, when shooting events, it also depends on the program they have and what you like to capture.....

I do hope that this setup will be good enough... Last yr, I have only 400D.... and it was very challenging to shoot in low light.....

Hope I can have better images than last year...........

usualy i'll go with one flash only. the other body just pump up the ISO equip with max. F2.8 lens. But i was on 2 x 5D setup. so its workable.

For 400D... The highest ISO I dare go is 400...... any higher will be bad.... and if I go f/1.8, I worry about the purple fringing... so flash would be a safer option.....

Any recommendation for straps??? I prefers those that have no fast release, and not screw to the tripod coloum (like the rapid)......

The 85/f1.8 is not usable at wide opened, precisely the reason why I let it go.

In some situation, it is ok, and some no..... so I intent to go f/2.8 with flash....

At 85mm, I have not much option.....
