...don't use Energizer batteries.

I suppose they are referring to alkaline batteries in general? I'm just curious why not. Can anyone enlighten me?

How about using NiMH instead? Will there be any problem?

i believe the reason is because the clock uses a very low current, and by the time the alkaline or NiMH battery drains, it might be leaking. Otherwise, there's no harm in using alkaline or NiMH. i use NiMH in my alarm clocks, but not the wall clocks.

Give it a few months time, using energizer, your wall clock will be 15-20 mins faster.

Also using energizer is overkill, those el cheapo 10 for $1 kind of batteries will be more then enough.

But you also have to change batteries more often.
I think the main grouch about using cheap batteries is that he has to change the batteries more often and thus have to climb up and down more often. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

espn, where did you get the '10-15 minutes faster' thing from? AFAIK, a clock's accuracy is not affected by small external changes in voltage, esp digital ones, or those that are based on some electronic quartz inside. Anyone with deeper knowledge on clocks care to comment, ie on whether a clock's accuracy is affected by its battery type.

To the original poster: How is this topic related to photography? Just feel a little silly discussing this topic...
;p

... thus the thread is moved to Kopitiam.

i don't think it's advisable to do this with alarm clocks (read: clocks that spoil your dreams every morning).. might just end up having a good dream but late for work/school. :p
