Hehe... The X-15 is an even bigger fuel eater... 15 tonnes of fuel expended in 3 minutes.

This is a good idea for a squadron of Kamikaze Pilots in RSAF methinks.

Heh.. The X-15's need to be launched off B-52's.. But once they're fire off, just about nothing can shoot them down... LOL.. Well... Unless there are missles that can travel out of the atmosphere and maintain cruising speeds more than Mach 3..

The X-15 can enter near-space and then re-enter atmosphere.. The pilots actually wear a spacesuit of sorts to fly it..

Was watching Discovery Channel last night about the Top 10 Best fighters in the world...Here goes:

These planes were judge by cost of production, kill ratio, performance, fear factor... etc

1) P51D Mustang
1) F15C Eagle
3) F-4E Phantom
4) F-86 Sabre and MiG-15
5) Cant remember... :embrass:
6) Me 262
7) Spitfire
8) Sopwith Camel
9) BAE Harrier
10) F-22 Raptor

Fear factor ? if it's so, how come they didn't even mentioned the FW 190 series? FW 190 was called "Butcher Bird' by the American for valid reason...

Indeed if you look closely at the Top 10 list are mostly dominated by American planes...for me i take things these info/entertainment news with a pinch of salt.

fighters? B52s are NOT fighters. They are long endurance strategic BOMBERS.
