if you have $4k hanging on your shirt pocket. Any shop you walked into will welcome you.

Unless you buy gears every 2 weeks, else the shop won't remember you after a few days. No point showing blind faith to retail shops.
Nah. I don't necessary buy from a shop bcos of blind faith, its more like there is a trust in them, based on what i had also done for homework for what i'm about to purchase. Shops do give sound advices, but such shops are rare, so i'd rather my money goes to them if they offer a decent price and is trustworthy, than another shop who tries to milk me but in the end reluctantly sell me what i want.
Its really not blind faith as my follow up purchase may not be from the same shop, just that i will give them priority considerations. That should be how you do retail, I won't have blind faith as i had done retail myself, and of course i know they probably may not rmb you. But ultimately, there is a matter of preference and my preference is not based on blind faith but trust. How u win the trust is another issue.
But definitely for me, not by hard selling 550D based on logic (by John 3.16 salesman) of "a few hundred more only ma. then 'you' can use it for longer". the 'you' as though thinking FOR me, but obviously the you was thinking more in the line of my moolah. Please, I was thinking, I'd done retail. Duh. How'd I not know whats on your mind. Told you i'm a noob u dun believe, so therefore that was it, i told the dude "a few hundred more, so u profit more ma" and I walked out of the shop.
Don't flame me, its really my preference. Maybe loyal customers they will advise according to needs, but for me, I told him i need to have good low light shots, and DxO mark told me 550D need not necessarily do far better than 1000D, its still up to the user. But he laughed off data, and instead of advising me on my ignorance, if any, he still harped on how it is more worth it to get the 550D. Annoyed the hell out of me. Felt like I talked to a wall.
