why not ask friends or relatives who have import/export business and lease out the container space to them? I'm sure they will have alot of stuff to ship back with steeply discounted shipping

Whether they are furniture or anything else, the mess occupying a 40ft container will need a vol of 40ft container to keep right?

If there is place to keep the mess even with no apartment, there will be place to keep the furniture even with no apartment right? Does it make any different whether it is furniture or not?.... hmm.....

Previously I read that some people actually buy cheap furniture here and move it back. Unfortunately I don't a new apartment in Singapore, else I would have bought a whole set of complete furniture here! I got 1 mountain bike which I managed to get on the cheap though. Any other suggestions of items which are really cheap here but expensive back in Singapore?
