can i ask is it the 18-70mm kit lens plus Minolta 50mm f1.7 and beercan pretty enough to cover most situations for a newbie?
If you have room to play I would suggest getting a Minolta 70-210mm f4 aka "beercan". I prefer thisi over my Minolta 50mm 1.7. Although, this is not a good comparison this depends on the range between the subject and the camera. Price will be less than $400 depending on the condition as the lens is no more in production.
you can get this lens at world camera down at peninsula plaza.. it's their closing down sale.. so hurry![]()
Mmm, I guess I can come to a conclusion with all the replies by the seniors.
I will get the tamron first, then move on with 50mm f1.4 or f1.8 (see which one better, hahaha) =D
Oh ok, maybe I can get a 2nd hand beercan
Thank you once again!
e 2nd hand beercans arent coming in freq, dude. Anyway, u sound like u buying what u think u should have, not wat u need for ur theme of photography. Be careful cos overshopping can lead to excessive unused lens
sorry to hijack this thread. I am in the same situation as TS. but it seems it is quite tough to get a beercan. any capable replacement for the beercan.
I am using A300 with kit lens. i shoot during traveling.. archi and potraits. So i think beercan is a good upgrade?
Hi, im also a new a200 user, im also considering of what will be the next lens to upgrade from kit 1870..
Btw how much is minolta 50 1.7 now?![]()
About S$200. Depending on condition.
Can u think any other option for prime lens thats cheaper than minolta 50 1.7? I will use it mainly for potrait i think.. Thanks..![]()
Only the 28mm f2.8 & 50mm f1.7 are around this price, the rest are way above it. These are the cheapest I would say. Unless you can wait for the new 50mm f1.8 DT, but not sure when it'll reach our shores though.
