Dell 2407WFP-HC and Sony G520. the Sony always present a more vibrant color, the black is simply...black. for image and video, Sony is hard to fault; for everything else, the Dell is good enough.
quite shock to see dell as a monitor for photoediting and stuff.
i always thought it would be sonicview or something.
By the way, i am looking to get a monitor,
can anyone recommend a good one for a good price?

Its about the panel type and not the brand that makes the LCD monitor suitable for photo editing purpose or not.
Go for IPS panel if can afford as it offers best colour reproduction(most accurate) amongst all panels for such purpose. It simply beats TN panels handsdown (TN panels amongst the cheapest and more suitable for gaming with its faster response time). IPS panels usually comes as the highest end models (and price) in the consumer brands as they're not cheap to produce in the first place (different technology) and not produced/sold in huge volume as compared to TN panels.
Examples of S-IPS panels: LG L2000C, L2000CP, Dell 3007WFP, 2007WFP, 2007FP, Apple Cinema Display series, Eizo CG series, HP DreamColor LP2480zx.
Next best is PVA panels (such as Dell 2407WFP, 2408WFP etc) with good balance of both colour reproduction and response time.
