For me, my first digital Camera is FujiFilm FinePix 2300, a non-zoom 2.1 megapixel camera.
Soon after, I save up a little and got a 4 megapixel panasonic with Mega OIS.
Then, I read Canon S2 IS feature and went to hunt for 1 immediately, I stick to S2 IS until before I enlist. I used S2 for 1 year.

After my BMT, I recieved a stay out posting, begin hunting for another super zoom camera. I came across Olympus SP550UZ and the specifications are darn impressive. Bought 1 from CS.
1 week later, I am disgusted by the colour, super slow focusing and interface that I hate. I sold away the cam at CS also and get myself a S5 IS, and begin to buy stuff like polarizer, flash kit, tele-converter etc. S5 IS stick with me for 1 year as of now also.

Then after, I got an EOS 450D to use with my S5 IS, as well as complimenting my friend's 1000D. (share lens, flash, polarizer etc)

I check others because my bro is working at canon as printer technician, servicing those 5 digit and above mega laser publishing machines. My brother commented - only canon camera are proven worth buying, just avoid their laser printers.
lol

Canon camera always focus on great colour production, only their digital cam suffer from noise issue, which is solved by ISO80/100 at slow slow shutter speed.

what is Electronic Adjustment?

Not sure if that is called calibration? I asked them to do calibration actually, but work report says electronic adjustment.

they adjust your lens or body?

what is Electronic Adjustment?

During focusing, the body sends electrical signals to the lens, giving instructions to the latter on how much to move. The response by the lens is governed by some in-built 'rules' which can be adjusted. Similarly, the signal sent by the body can be adjusted. This is what electronic adjustment is all about. Not too different from in-body micro-adjustment. The difference is that Canon's lab software is more sophisticated and can handle zoom lenses better.

When a camera CONSISTENTLY under/over exposes, electronic adjustments can also be made. This is not too different from a permanently dialed-in exposure compensation.

Most of my friends were using Canon, particularly the 350D.i had my fair share of playing with it (or them, rather), so it's only natural for me to go on with another Canon later on!

My first DSLR was actually the EOS 630.
Got stuck to Canon since then.

Both....for some reasons unknown to me....now the body gives very nice and saturated photos....I think they may have adjusted some post processing parameters.

If the poll is about camera body, well yes, but there isn't much of a choice for the consumer. If the poll is about lenses, then its about time Canon engineers WOKE UP: most of their lenses are already so old and yet priced so high still (ie 100-400), while Sigma has been aggressively introducing faster and better lenses at much cheaper prices.

Maybe Sigma / tamron and tokina should buy over some camera company and start to launch its new CAMERA BODY lineup and give CANON a run for its money: Hope it happens soon so consumers can look forward to CHEAPER and MORE REASONABLY PRICED lenses (which are WAY OVERPRICED in today's economic situation).

That is the reason why there are no lay off from Canon. And they are still employing.:bsmilie:

But having use quite a few Sigma lens in the past... I like to point out, the ever so annoying trend of Sigma lens backward compatability ,makes them prone to the needs of constant rechipping to enable them to be used on newly launched camera body.
Therefore I have slowly phased out all my Sigmas except for the 12-24mm (no other makers has a similar lens) and the 15mm fisheye(cheaper and in my opinion sharper than the Canon). If this days, I am given a choice, I will purchase either Canon, Tokina or Tamron.
But that's just my personal opinion.....Please do not feel offended if you are a avid Sigma lens supporter or user.

in sg there is no lay off at the moment, but over in japan, contract stuff is being terminated.
anyway my contract is ending soon, finally can get a breather, sick and tired of the company already...

Im the newbie & this my 1st DSLR ... i have struggled almost 3 months to make the decision.. I choose it because of worth of value... ;)

Umm, that wasn't a DSLR... :)
It was one of Canon's early Autofocus 35mm SLRs and a very good one at that.

Colors are outstanding. Somehow, after comparing with the others, I find Canon's colors are more lively. Also, the wide range of lenses available. And it just feel good in my hands. Won't consider any other brand even though, I've tried them before. Canon is for life. :)

Canon's colours are more natural. Great L lenses compliment the sensor.

Canon feels good in my hands. Went to the shops, tested Nikon and Sony too but in the end, Canon is the choice. Besides, can exchange lenses with my family members(5 of us with DSLRs in the family; 3 with Canon). Hubby went for the Sony.
