What is your stand on reserving seats using using Tissue in the Food Court etc.

i got an idea..

next time when the unoccupied table/chairs with tissues packs on it, just sit down and use the tissue lor..

no one there..who to claim tissues theirs..

when the group come back and claim theirs.....just say "REALLY, it's the foodcourt sponsored one" and continue to eat, ignore them.... :devil:

still it does not solve the issue of searching for seats after queuing up to buy food & drinks den it'll be really not funny going round or standing around with the tray of food. some food with a burner will fizzle out, hot food gone cold.. if still cannot find seat?

wouldn't we be like cars going round carpark looking for parking lots. should customers be penalised for poor business model?

Try using this... it will be pretty effective I think placed on the chair or table. You can stick a pocst card to it saying : CHUP! :devil:

spike balls would work better? but u need to fit magnets to ur own car to 'pick them up'. ideally use a pail, cost a little more but if floor is wet, no worries!

Spike balls and magnets represent too high a cost. The idea to follow for the tissue packet chopers is to use low cost disposable items; so that if someone steals it, its no loss. Hence, we should all use carton boxes to reserve car park lots just in the smae way a tissue packet user does for food court seats.

Seriously, what I was trying to illustrate is that few, if any, people would actually think that it is right to reserve a car park lot with a carton box; yet, a significant number of people think that it is okay to reserve a food court seat with a tissue packet.

This doesn't apply only to car park lots, but to any form of queuing system or reservation system. Would one use a tissue packet to reserve a place in a queue, for say, Hello Kitty toys in Macdonalds? Or to reserve a spot for say, a front row spot in a fashion show? Or airline seats on a budget plane? A free seating open air concert? Etc.

hi vince, u raised many valid points about this tissue pack phenomena. the light at the end of this tunnel has yet to be reached. personally i use my bag (pack or sling or cam bag) to reserve a seat (not table :bsmilie when i queue up to buy my meals at public eateries. of course i have it in my line of sight.

in other countries i will not even do that. just in case bomb disposal squads get called in... :bsmilie:

1 hour a meal is not that much time for most people concerned, coffeeshops of old, just verbally place orders den wait at the table. with modern food courts, i dun see how queuing up 1 time to get food & likely another time for a seat a (close) decent option.

do u think there are any food court operators here in CS? would like to hear from horse's mouth. i am sure u would too. :sweatsm:

I suspect the food court operators won't care since they make their money whichever way is chosen for seating arrangements.

Simple solution: If you're in a group of at least 2 ppl...one seat down and the other go and buy first. Your partner comes back? Then your turn go buy. If big group, if happens the "waiting person" happens to want to order from a similar store as someone going to buy...ask him buy another set lor.

If you're alone...just go ahead and buy your food. Then with tray in hand, find a single seat. I'm very sure there are such "holes" around.

i once sat on a table (5 seats) with 2 tissue packs. Assuming 2 person "booked" the table only, I sat down for my meal. Actually 5 persons came back for the table. Of course none of them came to me and said that's their "booked" table. They waited me to finish my meal actually. I think it's alright if the manners were like this.

I'm okay with it since half the time I eat alone so even if I came earlier, I lose the available tables from groups who camne later. For solution, I think the best is more tables. Other places has more stalls/table ratio, while those that are same as singapore, choping is also practices. You chope with tissue, bags, or even your friend.

Maybe you didn't consider 1 thing. The wait for food and queueing during lunch time in town is about 15-20 mins. The faster eater will have to finish his food 15 mins faster than his friend.

As I said, it will work only if anyone in the group helped the one waiting at the table ordered his food. Else, no matter what, the person waiting at the table will have to eat very fast or the rest of the group will have to wait for him. This is inefficient as others cannot use these seats.

Last hotter is what kind of food? Maybe all order cold dish. No problem. Not sure how your group operate but my group don't normally decide what to eat until we reached the foodcourt.

A better solution is to eat at resturant. No need to leave the table to order food. But more expensive

On the contrary, this tissue paper or person chopping place is very inefficient. Some one could have use the table/seat to finish his meal during the time when tissue or person is tanking up the place without using it for "eating".

Well, I have no solution to this. But I am not the one drawing the million dollar pay. So, let those paid to do the job do theirs.

i think the whole issue is pretty amusing but sometimes packs of tissue paper quite hard to spot, getting scolded by some auntie at lunch time isnt the nicest of things..
