What is your favourite FX Portraits lens for D750/D810 ?

Yes undergrd, you are correct.

But the reason I didn't put is because I cannot put. There is only a max number of characters allowed in the signature. So the rest I cannot add in because the limit has been reached.

I even PM one of the moderators to let me have extra characters but was told it was not possible. So I live with it ...

Anyway, I also just bought the Panasonic GX8 and didn't update this in the signature yet ...

Thanks
that is a limit of text can be input into signature, is not that we don't do it, is the limitation of forum software.
Anyway you can create a block of text, listing whatever you have, copy and paste in the post body itself everyone you make a post.
If this is too troublesome, you can create a webpage to list whatever you have plus some photos if you want show people you really own them, than hyperlink the URL into your signature.

Hope this help.

Thanks catchlights,

It's not really a necessity. The friendly moderator I PMed told me the same thing, that it is the restriction placed by the software. So, I just leave it as it is ... no worries.

I just list the m4/3 gears can already (with the exception of Sony A5000 which is an APS-C)

Ok, back to topic, looks like not many shops carry the 135/F2 DC lens already ... :nono:

It is one of the older lenses but not that much older than the 105 dc. I guess chalk it up to old Nikkors being harder to find in SG...something that I am still somewhat mystified about.

Old Nikkor AF-D lens are harder to get in Singapore. You can get them easily in Hong Kong cheaper then Singapore (even if you include a cheap return flight)

I got my 135/2 DC for SGD13xx, while local shops were quoting SGD18xx.

Thanks bro, any particular shop you can recommend in HK ? Thanks

I managed to ask a shop in Funan, he said if I want must order but he doesn't have a price, he thinks is around $1,3xx

Sounds like a useless shop... all proper dealers have price lists.

Its more like 1600+++ locally.

Go se SLR REVO, TK or CATHAY if you want one.

Don't want to mention names but the salesman that told me so was form one of the 3 shops you mentioned ...

I just wanted to say something about how I use the 105 and 135 focal lengths when it comes to portraits and please remember I am just a hack amateur guy who likes to take pictures who has read a little bit from a lot of different places not that it really means a whole lot. Plus I have made a buttload of snaps in my time...hahha

With the 105 I like to move in close. Get the head, the head and shoulders, or sometimes a tight half body shot.

With the 135 I prefer to be long range from subject and do more full body shots. Don't ask me why because I really do not know other than it just seems to me the 135 and full body works and maybe pops more for lack of a better word to describe the effect that I see. Perhaps it has something to do with the compression factor of the slightly longer focal length. The 135 is not a studio type shooter for me.

And with a crop camera focal lengths totally screw me up which is why I need to get a full frame digital but alas that is a different topic probably.

Just thought I'd throw that in there... :)

Thanks bro.

I am quite convinced now that the 135 is what I need ...

Problem is, I would like to test the lens before buying but no shop have stock for me to test the lens ...

I owned the 135 Nikon once and sold it for the Zeiss... worth the extra $ I say. :)

Yes the Zeiss lenses are immaculate for sure. Here stateside we have a rare items dealer in Cali who carries some very unique lenses that are F mount conversions. They are old CZJ Contarex units converted to F mount and fully functional. I have been drooling over them for years now but they are super $$$. A nice 35/50/85/135 set of these primes will set one back about 10 grand! Some folks say the old Zeiss Contarex glass is the greatest glass ever made of any brand at any time in history. Quite a claim I admit but you ought to hold one in the hand and see the results. It feels like you are holding a grenade and they produce a razor sharp explosion of very vivid color.
