What is your favourite DOMKE bag?

I use the backpack strap with F3x, makes it so nice to carry

What method will be good to ship? Via vpost/borderlinx or direct shipping from the merchant? Cos if they ship with the bags stuffed, let's say you combine orders and ordered 5 bags, I wonder how big the parcel will be :\ cos my 1 Domke bag f3x already was packed in a 16" x 13" x 11" box. I think it will be more economical to ask the merchant to ship directly as you will have a "fixed" amount that you need to pay. If you go through vpost or borderlinx, you may get a heart attack when you see the bill.

Just my 2 cents' worth.

Yeah I agree i looked at shipping directly from the merchants and it is about USD 45 (cheapest) to ship from the merchant. How much is V post/borderlinx?

Wow if you have 5 people it'll be only USD 9 per person!

I bought my F2 Chocolate from B&H.
It was shipped by UPS, taking about 5-6 days from point of clicking 'Confirm'. Any faster I'd think I was in USA buying it off the shelf.

It was shipped with paper stuffing, and 'air bags'. My guess is that they ship it this way to maintain the bag's shape, and visually it looks extremely pleasing. I mean, would you rather recieve a $200+ bag flat? or in its full galore ? :)

I suggest to let the seller sort out the packing, why worry? You can take the time and start planning your leave to be at home to receive the bag instead ;)

Hi,

I'll like to check with all the expert domke owners who ordered from overseas sites (Amazon, Adorama and BH Photo).

When they ship the bag, do they flatten it or they ship as per what we see displayed in CP (with all the papers stuff in it to make it look big and nice)?

Please let me know. Thanks.. Btw, I used Borderlinx. Borderlinx is fine and uses DHL so technically it took 4 days to reach me from USA. But because of the way BHP packed my bag (HUGE box), it cost me USD$50+ for something quite light  Thought I can save a little by using Borderlinx.

Can only say lesson learnt.

Anyone owns F3X and J3? Can I know what's the main difference between them other than J3 have inserts and clips on its side pockets while F3X does not?

Hmm the shipping cost increases with each additional quantity.. right?

fave is still J1, the only domke i have and it's working very well still, no intentions to change!

opps yeah you're right the shipping price increases by about USD 11 per additional bag ! :embrass:

I was deciding between these 2 back few months ago. The J3 seems to have bigger side pockets (left and right pouch pockets) while the F3X seems to have bigger main compartment. But the F3X's side pouch/pockets is also not THAT small, quite decent for flash unit or small primes and other accessories! Oh another thing, the seperation pouch thing is sewn on in the F3X is non-removable and thinner while the J3 is (which makes it a bit bulky IMO la. the F3X inserts does a decent job still but if you want to move your inserts around, probably the J3 is a better pick? The overall dimensions you can compare from the sites etc. This is all i could remember, HTH. I picked the F3X for its compactness, no frills design. I prefer to have the main compartment bigger.

Suggestion, go down CathayPhoto and compare them side by side! I made up my mind immediately after comparing them there and made my purchase with B&H (its cheaper even after shipping fees!) And their delivery time is pretty fast too! :)

recently bought a J1 off a fellow CS-er.

It's GREAT! Big, feels damn tough, looks good and can fit all of my weird toys. Like a Mamiya RB67, Polaroid 110A converted, SX-70 and a Konica T3. plus minus few rolls/packs of film

But after reading about mold problems, I'm now sunning my bag lol =D

mine is an F6...i like the fact that it does not look like a camera bag...:)

one question though, because i just bought a grip recently and now my camera is huge, do any of you store your body attached with lens face down? i tried searching forums but the comments are pretty mixed...

I've been using the Domke J2 for ages. Feels so much a part of me now :)

do domke bags have a shape to them? meaning can they stand on their own without anything inside?

In general domke sling bags aren't those boxy kind of bag (i.e. crumpler), so it "moulds" to your body when you use it. Hence, it does not stand well on its own with nothing inside. But i think for some with thicker paddings, it should be fine? It doesn't really "collapse" totally also. I've the F3X so mostly speaking with reference to that bag. ;p

Just got my 1st Domke bag... I am going to find out how much I am going to love it!

my collection of Domke bags - F2 olive green, F802 - black & F10 - sand color....love them!!!

ah hah. i dont really like the idea of the polyester and the wierd combo of the canvas outer shell and the ballastic nylon front pouch.

isnt it all supposed to be canvas all round? interior and exterior? wierd huh?

i made a mistake here. my bag is in ballistic nylon. but the clip portion is canvas. the rest of the bag is nylon. but it comes in canvas as well. :embrass:

Thanks for clarifying :). I am holding back to get the F6 as it could be too small for me, being neither here nor there in terms of the things I like to drag around. I could just end up with the F1 :bsmilie:
