Yo yo... anyone can advise on the chopper ride price at 12 apostles?
What is the must place to visit in Melbourne?

Seems like nobody recommended the Wineries...
Yarra Valley is quite close to Melbourne City, the biggest is Chandon, a must-visit for wine-tasting. Goes well with pate, cheese and bread.
If you're in Mornington Peninsular, look on the map for the numerous wineries around there.
There's plenty of good food, including:
1. Shark Fin Inn (HK style yum cha) - 131 Little Bourke Street (bigger outlet)
2. Pizza/pasta at Papaginos/Universitas - Lygon Street
3. Victoria Street just north of the CBD is the Little Vietnam, lots of Asian and Viet food. Pacific House (HK style) has good roasted duck and lots of dishes, but can get really crowded.
4. For streets with lots of cafes, head to Raftdowne Street (near the Kent Hotel, a quieter choicer), or Brunswick Street (more crowded and more restaurants, one of the hip bohemian style areas)
The CBD area has lots of great food too, stick to the crowded ones, or the ones along Chinatown. Lots of Thai food in Australia too, surprisingly.

Melbourne to Warnambool is about 3-4 hours if you are familiar with the route and drive on the Princes Highway which is the inland route. If driving by the GOR, it will take longer because the road is narrower and hugs the coast ans so is windy with many sharp turns. And you will want to stop to admire the view, eat the ice-cream and pastries.
I think you are wiser, if this is your first trip, to take the coach. Then, next trip, you can drive as you will be more familiar with the roads. I also will not recommend driving in the city. Parking is hard to find and so expensive. Plus they also have ERP on certain roads. Add in the traffic jams. I think taking the trains are better.
Just my 2 cents.
If you happen to be in town, Southbank(along Yarra river) is a good place to hang out in the night. Near Crown casino, there is 'big fire' display at regular interval (I think is every hour...not too sure though). Don't be scare, it is really big.

Yup... Yarra's Valley will be part of my plan. Planning to visit De Bortoli and Yerring Station. When you mentioned Chandon above, do you mean Domaine Chandon?

Still remember my first day in Victoria... Landed at Tullamarine at 7:30am... got the car, started driving towards the GOR. Planned to take two days to drive the whole route. By the time we reached the 12 Apostles, it was past 6pm. Not very tired at that point because of the stops along the way. Had dinner at Port Campbell and planned to stay overnight there. But all the hotel/motels fully booked. In the end, have to drive all the way to Warrnambool and got there at 10.30pm. That's a total of 17 hours driving.
Velvetine and I were so tired we began to drift off before Warrnambool and we had to talk loudly and talk nonsense to keep us awake. What's dangerous is that there are no street lights on the GOR, we're still driving near the cliffs and you tend to get wildlife on the road. It's a miracle nothing happened. We thanked the Lord for that.
My advice, if you drive, don't drive at night if you're not experienced. By the end of the trip, I learnt a trick. Keep a gap of 50 metres from the car in front. By looking at his tail lights, you'll know when a curve is coming up and how sharp it is. (Remember, there's no street lights outside the towns and cities.)

22/4 (Saturday)
Arriving Melbourne Airport around 9.00am. reach home around 10.30am. from Melbourne Airport to home is around 40mins drive.
Get ready to go out for lunch around 11 am.
Head to Mt Dandenong (Yarra Valley Range) around 40mins to 1 hour drive from home. We can either have pancake for lunch or special devanshire tea (scone with strawberry jam and cream). Devanshire tea is popular up in Mt Dandenong. They are many beautiful shops up there, but depends on the time we have.
After lunch, head to Puffing Billy steam train ride. www.puffingbilly.com.au. The next train after lunch is 2.20pm, so we must make it at Belgrave before that time. Roughly one hour steam train ride and you would reach Lakeside at 3.25pm. I will pick you two up there. After that, we can take pics around Lakeside. They have some water activities on the lake.
For dinner, we may take buffet dinner in Cuckoo Restaurant up on Mt Dandenong. This is a German restaurant with singing and dancing entertainment. It will be good experience. Dinner per head is around $35.
23/4 (Sunday)
Church at 9am in the morning. Must leave home around 8.15am in the morning.
Church service finishes around 10.15am.
Head to Melbourne City for the day. We will catch train from either Box Hill or Genferrie Station. It will take around 20mins to get to the City. Train ticket price is $2.5/person. It is the special Sunday saver rate. Normal day will cost $9.70/person/day. With all our ticket, you may use it for train ride, tram and bus.
We can head to South Bank/South Gate/Crown Casino, take a cruise ride from South Bank to Williamstown. We can have fish and chips there for lunch. After that we can head to St.Kilda beach. If we still have time, we may head to Dockland for sunset. I have never seen sunset in Dockland, it is a harbour-newly developed area. We can walk around the Melbourne City, Bourke Street, Swanston Street, China Town St Paul and St Andrew church for pictures
Dinner could be eaten somewhere in the City. Choices are yours, perhaps Vietnamese?
24/4 (Monday)
If weather permits, go for a morning walk around my area. You can see different houses, flowers, plants and experience the hilly walk. Make sure you bring thick clothes and good runners! If not, you may also bake cookies.
Yum cha at 12 noon.
Head to Philip Island for the afternoon. It is around 2 hours+ drive from home depending on the traffic. The penguins will come on shore around sunset time, ie, btn 5-6pm, I have to ring and ask. So we must get there before 5pm. We will reach home very late this night. But try not to stay too late there bcos the countryside road is dark at night without street night. It could be dangerous since we are not familiar with the road conditions.
25/4 (Tuesday)
Take a morning rest. Maybe you can bake cookies, or I can bring u to local supermarkets. We cant go to Queen Victoria Market cos today is public holiday and it is closed. I will try to investigate if I can bring you guys to the apple farm around my area. My parents have been there many yrs ago, not sure whether it is still accessible.
26/4 to 28/4 GOR (12Apostles)+Grampians 2N/3D trip.
29/4 (Saturday)
We may rent car and go to Sorrento/Queenscliff, Mornington Peninsular and if we have time Arthur Seat. OR
We may go to Morning Star Estate (MSE) for wine testing. This is around 1.5 hours drive from home. We can also head to Mornington Peninsular/Frankston.
30/4 (Sunday)
Church for my friend in the morning.
We may go to Queen Victoria Market. It is around 45mins drive from home. After that, we may go to Fitzroy Garden if you guys are interested.
1/5 (Monday)
you guys can explore Melbourne City on your own. Catch a bus with me in the morning if you can wake up early. If not, at your own time. Meet me for lunch and I can bring you to J Café Japanese restaurants for their special sushi burger meal. It is $10 with a big sushi burger, small bowl of udon and some side dishes. This dish can only be eaten during weekday lunch hour.

However, no photography allowed.. or rather no flash allowed in case the flash affect the peguin's eyes. Go with a fast lens though. At night, weather can be extremely chilling.
can take pictures in Phillip Island .. but not when u visit the penguins .

I used to remember driving my MOD AE85 with other Hkies racing on MT Dandenong.. like Initial D.. although dangerous (not recommended) but its a near death experience for me.. nicenice

Yes, Phillip Island and Churchill Island are great places for pictures!
One of my favourites... taken at the Nobbies on one end of Phillip Island. Thousands of seagulls there...
