can try to persuade the guy to sell me one if you are interested. but no confirmations, prob need to place a deposit for it.

Thanks for the offer. I appreciate it. But I've already put my booking down and reminded them that I am serious about it a few days back.

I am second in line so unless they are getting only 1 lense or give my allocation to another customer, I should be getting it soon.

Interesting titbit. There are at least 2 D200s in SG now. <---was told not to say which organisation or protographer had it.

Could the photographer be the one that test and present the D2X on the launch day?

I hope so. I'm almost never a first mover. This is the first time I'm buying a lense without a price or seeing it for myself. :embrass:

I know you've spent some time with it so I'm leaning on your comments that to "an wei" myself.

basing on my 15mins experience with a demo sample? that`s pretty dangerous, lucky I remembered I put a disclaimer there beforehand :bsmilie:

Diz is a definite for me! E queue is still long though...

Just BUY BUY BUY!!! Resistance is futile... :D

Ok I picked mine up today. Haven't had a chance to play with it much but it seems ok so far.

I'll try to put up some sample pictures soon.

the wait is over

Had a go at it today, $1280 seriously seems overpriced with it's design, but the AF-S and VR module is the one that causes the cost to go up I guess.

I guess so...but pretty sad that it has small aperture. If its f/2.8 that would be a perfect lens to have. :D

I think price is not the biggest issue. The biggest issue is the weight and size.

To maintain f2.8 at 200mm, the aperture (and hence the last lens element) will have to quite big. Have you seen the size of the 70-200mm? For a 18-200mm f2.8, the whole lens will be much bigger than the 70-200mm f2.8. The reason is because it will also have to achieve the FOV of the 18mm.

Would that be a "perfect" lens if you have to lug around all that weight all the time? I don't think so.

Maybe not so big because it is a DX lens so maybe about the same or slightly bigger but still a pain to carry around and the weight Ohhhhh...... my back.

lol.... thought that's one of the reason why going DX design... compact and light weight mah ;p Well though the technology can achieve that,... I also no money to buy such highend lens :D
