What is the best sharp canon wide anble lens ?

The Nikkor F mount is very much smaller than the EF mount, so receiving a L lens on a Nikon body is actually deemed to be impossible. It may be a one-off custom converter that you saw, or you eyes may have tricked you. :bsmilie:

There's also the issue with flange distance – it's impossible to achieve infinity focus on a EF lens on Nikon body without optics in the adapter. The other way round is fine.

i am using 10-22 and I love it, is sharp, and focusing in quick and silent.

With my 40D before its 10-22 no questions ask. Now with FF 17-40 L works for me. Ive also considered the 16-35L II but eventually lost my vote because of filter size is non-standard and realized cost is more than half in 17-40. If i want wider i can just use my legs to move back a bit. Nothing much of a difference i would say even in sharpness. With the wider aperture argument, the body nowadays is very much capable of bumping to 1 stop or 2 stops should you need it...

Its wide-open sharpness from edge to edge rivals that of the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8.

But both share a serious problem as well: a bulbous front element that lacks front threading.

ISO does not give you the same DOF and perspective....that is where the 17-40 loose out. On FF it produce more vignetting then the 16-35.

I am a Canon 50D user. I am using 2 wide lenses:
For fast wide lens, I am very happy with my new EF 24/1.4 II. Its fun to play with (wide + bokeh), and pretty sharp open-wide with very minimal (almost none) CA.

For other use, I like my old Nikkor 20/2.8 AiS (with Haoda Fu adapter) which delivers extreme sharpness and wider coverage than my 24L. But I am not too happy with Nikon's color, which I always edit in DPP.

I also have Canon EF 35/2 which I like to use when I want to travel light:

These 2 shots were taken with a 450D, somehow loss of sharpness and details compare to using the same lens on 50D.

I don't have any zoom except 24-70L, which I only use to cover events. I much prefer to use prime lenses, EF and MF.

24 mm is wide on a full frame sensor, but can it be considered as a wide angle lens on a crop body (ex, 24 becomes ~38 mm)?
