What is my next camera ?

I went down to Cathay and got my D4 yesterday. Understand most of the gadget and uses, probably need to learn another 10 or more percent. Wondering whether there are class that conduct the D4 features.
Nikon do have courses specially design for Nikon users.

Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd

hope this help.

No one will expect many P-plate drivers on a Lamborghini or Ferrari..:)

IMHO, think about what you want to do in the next 2 years beyond your D5100 before "upgrading"

Moving on from DX to DX is in a form "Upgrading" if you are looking at more capabilities that the body can offer in terms of AF points, ISO, FPS and upper limit shutter speed, sensor resolution and other aux functions like HD video. Better bodies give better consistency when operating in more difficult conditions and better over overall results. It can also give better results if you are going to work on a certain gene of photography. (ie Sports 7 Action because that gene of photography requires certain capabilities that your current body lacks). Else it very much defeats the purpose of "Upgrading".

If you intend to move into FX, then start to look at the D600 and FX lens than continue to invest in DX.

Should you decide to continue in DX and body upgrade is not so urgent, then look at enhancing framing and composure techniques in DX before looking to add lens to your tool box. Knowing the limitations of your existing lens or body will greatly help you understand what lens or body you need. The 50mm f/1.8G is a FX lens and is a great lens for portriats but you cannot zoom and is equivalent to 75mm FOV which is long for most landscapes. Alternatively, should you consider to maintain in DX, look at lens from Tokina like the 11-17mm or the costly Nikon 17-55 f/2.8

50mm f1.8 ? I think can give it a try =)

There is no tutorial for D4. If you buy a D4 you are expected to be somewhere up there. Probably just need few video aid in youtube to execute the high end camera.
I was hesitating between a D800 and D4. You will never regret a D4. Super good at low light. Can take very high speed without flash with noise that is unnoticeable. Video is HD super clear.
After using for more than a month, there is a small different that Cannon is better. The color is not as rich as Cannon.

I believe each camera comes with a user manual?

Ever adjusted the contrast and saturation in the picture control menu?

I don't know about Cannon but I do know picture control and lens can contribute to how rich the color appear to be.

Example:
With all settings equal, the Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 when stopped down to f/2.8 appear more saturated than the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 at f/2.8 at 85mm.
