many threads from various forums point to a summer release of its alpha dSLRs (likely june). now it's almost a week into May and we still got no news from sony? ;(

isn't it better for sony to release it's product info now and let discussions and interest build up in forums all over the net?

wonder what's up with the secrecy :dunno:

The worst thing......i can think of ...is that the whole thing is just a myth...

be patient, bro. When it's time, it will appear.

Read from Dpreview that the new Sony DSLR will be released in the first week of June. And it will be using the R1 sensor. This guy seemed pretty sure. :dunno:

BZ now. May post link if i have the time. Let's keep our fingers crossed that word will reach our shores soon!

just joking but who knows, i might be right for Sony to jump into the big market:bsmilie:

They did anounce that they will release their DSLR in June. Guess we have to wait and see.

don't think i'll be buying the new dslr, can't even master my 5D. will probably wait one generation and learn in the meantime. but it'd be great to see what they offer, at least if it's a good camera, we know the future of the mount is guaranteed for some time to come.

hope they start selling the lenses soon though. maybe that will deflate secondhand prices a little. then in a few months, when any new lenses have been tried and reviewed, and hopefully dipped in price a little... then time for bonus and *** *** ***

They waiting for the Memory Stick format to be popularized first :bsmilie:

Predition? Very close to my thinking. But 600mm should be F4.0 Minolta just need to add in SSM to its current one. On the wide side I was hopping for a 17-50/2.8 SSM G rather than 16-35/2.8.

What they mean is that the 7D and 5D are, and were, entirely out of production. My suggestion that Sony might 'skin' a 5D is now unlikely to be true. I knew there was no way they would try to market with an interface like the 7D - way above their level!
The article indicates that:

The first new camera will be smaller than the 5D, and entirely different
Many existing lenses will be dropped and never made again
New designs will be introduced at a fast rate
Sony will emphasis 'miniaturisation'

i read it and interpret it as they saying the 7D interface is complicated?!
are we going to see "greatly simplified" and "kawaii" dslrs from Sony? :sticktong

Wow, if ready have 135mm AF-STF f2.8[4.5] G(D) ... I don't mind to pay $2900.00

but I worry need $3900.00:nono:

all are now (some individual) speculation and not even got photos to show. Wait until it come out, I am sure all the reviews for the Sony DSLR will come out quite quickly, unlike KM5D time  .

Still waiting for June to see what Sony has line up for their DSLR. Keep your fingers cross.

Alright, damnation. That's it.

I thought KM is great with their AS technology and ultimate simple to use interface. If Sony's really going that way for 'kawaii-isation' of their cameras, sorry to say that their DSLRs are going to be nothing more than a big, fat JOKE compared to KM and Minolta.

Yes, they can have all the ultimate technology, sensors and whatnots. But if handling to me scores a big fat zero, all the bells and whistles ain't gonna attract me to buy. There's no way I can shoot good pictures if I can't handle the camera steadily or properly in the first place.

Lets hope what has rumoured doesn't come true.... ie, the kawaii-isation of future Sony DSLRs.

This is perhaps the worst thing that can ever happen... weirdo designs with bad handling.

What happen if Sony come out with a good handling/grip yet small/kawaii-isation kind of DSLR

Good handling, proper grip, decent 1.5 or FF sensor (if can overtake Fuji sensor even better), excellent algorithim for noise control and power saving rivalling DigicII....

I dun mind.
