LOL go for 2nd hand and the above setup, minus the undefined manual lens, can be gotten for 6K, not too much above the budget actually..![]()
bro... 6k is not too much above the budget of 4k? it's 1.5 times man!!! :sticktong

5d + 28-75 SP.
Nikon 18-200 VR is not very good. Tried it with the D200...focusing is rather slow. Image quality is normal...EF 28-135 can beat it easily.
its good if you stop down (at least going for that price) :bsmilie:, but if you shoot wide open, probably most of the corner will become "bokeh" on a FF.. :bsmilie:hmm.... i don't think the tamron 28-75 is going to do very well on a full-frame.. i heard edge performance (esp sharpenss) isn't very good... i use it on a cropped sensor so i don't suffer from that prob. maybe someone else could clarify...
but if it works well.. that's one good set-up!
you have a chance to start all over again to buy camera and lens...
you have only $4k to $4.5K to spend and wanted to cover a full range like maybe from 28mm to 300mm... what will you do? and state why...![]()
don't forget the "else"......
Actually i dont see the need for "what if"
Most ppl here would have spent more than 4.5K(its not like an unlimited budget)...
If so, they why is your current setup not your ideal one with 4.5k?
If its not what you have then have you been making wrong choices all this while?
If you have been making wrong choice and you know it, then why have you not done anything to rectify it?
:bsmilie: :bsmilie:
maybe he's just trying to plan his set-up and has a limited budget.. so just wanna find out what the other's think.. but if that's the case, this thread isn't working...coz not many people are noticing the fact that he's trying to cover 28-300mm....
I would get....
Canon 400D ($1.8k)
Battery Grip ($175)
EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM ($880)
EF 70-200mm f4 IS USM ($1.8k)
Price: $4,655
Why? The 17-85 is sharp, wide enough, handy focal range, all with the nice benefit of IS.
The 70-200mm f4 IS... hmm. Enough said. We all know its good...
The battery grip for my big and cumbersome hands
The 400D for its fast AF, ICS, 9-pt, 10MP, better noise control and BIG LCD SCREEN! =D

IIRC The 400D is 1.35k when purchased as "body only".
I myself feel that 300D/350D/400D are very difficult to control. Don't have the dial button leh..so I start with my favorite body 30D.
30D(1.8k)
17-40(0.8k)
50 f1.4 (500)
70-200 f4 IS (1.7k)
-----
total 4.8k or just replace 50f1.4 with a 2nd 580Ex..
