What do you bring (photographic equipment) for travel

this is my equipment list for my coming Melbourne trip. Since me and my friends is renting a car for our trip... i am going to empty my dry cabinet and bring everything out for this trip!

5DMKII + CZ 21mm + 35L + 135L
LEE filters
OM2N + 28mm
Contax 167MT + 50mm
2-4 rolls of film
Trusty Sirui tripod

just a quick question.. how do you pack your lee filters on a trip?
i'm considering to bring some square filters as well, but i don't want to risk breaking the big stopper..

ahh, thanks for sharing. that one holds 3?
i'm looking around for options before deciding which one to buy.
currently now, i store the big stopper in its own filter wallet and i kept it in a lock n lock container. quite a hassle and takes up a big space.

Think the pic above holds 10.

I have the '3'; it does not come with a zip.

just wondering, but do you enjoy going on holiday with that much gear?

Valid question, but yes
I have actually brought heavier stuffs before, for self drive trips that is.
Easy to pull up alongside and just wander a little further off road, taking my time deploying at a place to setup, deliberate, shoot.
For city and streets shots, I only usually bring two lenses out.

If its a self drive then bringing all the equipment that you have and with the luxury of time to setup and contemplate what and how to shoot is fine. If you are joining a tour group where you can only be there for 20 minutes or so, or if you intend to walk a lot, then bringing everything may not be ideal.

My last trip, all i brought was a body with grip, 17-55mm. Sometimes its a 35mm lens and that is all i have. No need to worry about swapping about lens.

In the end depends on what you are trying to achieve. For versatility, think the 18-200mm range will do just fine for traveling.

Need some advice from experienced photographers here,
I'm planning to go for a 2 weeks backpacking trip to Vietnam, will be traveling from north to south.

I'll be bringing
5dmk2
Sigma 50mm f1.4
135L(optional)
S100 powershot

My plan is to carry 1 big backpack for my travel stuff
And 1 small daypack which I'll carry when I go sight seeing
Im planning to stay in hostel

I would like to seek some advice on the kind of day pack you guys carry on your trip.
I'm currently looking at lowepro photo hatchback.

Was wondering if there are better alternatives from the experienced guys here

Many thanks
