What do you bring (photographic equipment) for travel

For me i only bring
1) Canon 500D with 18-200 (with UV filter)
2) CPL filter
3) 1 spare 8GB SD card
4) Batt Charger (Of cause!)
5) Tripod
6) Flash diffuser (never use at all)
7) Cleaning kit (Cleaning pens + blower and cloth)
8) Phottix remote (forget model is C4 or C6, but come in handy when i want to take photo tgt with my gf and night shot)
9) PnS (FX55 + small tripod)

Put all of these in crumpler 6 million dollar bag (another great bag!)

i may bring a 24-70mm F2.8 sigma too but never felt inclined to bring my 70-200 f2.8 yet...:bsmilie:

The more ulu the the airport is the better. they are more "bochap". So far only be questioned once then I have my camera backpack, my hand luggage, and a guitar. They feel that I have too many things on hand. So I told them I don't mind checking in if they give me a black and white that I can claim all damages / repairs against them.

That's very encouraging. This is because I am also planning to take full load with tripod end of the year for a trip.
So looks like I am quite safe, for this will be the first time I am carrying more.

It really depends on individual choices ..

I have 2 x DSLRs, 3 lens, tripod and Apple MBP weighting around 15Kg to China for photoshoot trip ... :sweat:

Else a PNS will do just for causal shoot ..

i would only bring my D60 or my D100 for my trip with a all in one lens

or maybe one wide and one tele not too much, one which can all fit into my hadley pro,

or my F3x

but for tokyo, it's always only M6 with 50mm/f2

As for trip to Bangladesh, is for business & photography (80/20). That is why I only bring 'light' gear.

its sometimes hard to decide what you want to bring especially if you are out for a trekking trip and you will be moving place to place with just a daypack, which needs to contain your extra clothings, toiletries and your gears.

Asus EeePc 1000HE, LaCie Rugged 500GB disk drive (have to process images from a year + travel somehow).

Looking for a reasonably priced manual flashgun, and for many beautiful sights in Indonesia.

I guess you would be walking quite a bit while you are at Angkor Wat.
All your equipment fit nicely into your Flipside 400AW would be just nice, but not light certainly.
Do you intend to walk mostly with this set up and with your Flipside 400AW on your back?

It really depends very much on the kind of trip. Is it a trekking, city-sight-seeing/shopping, possibility of night scenary, who's travelling together, duration of the trip, etc. I will also read the itinerary to visualise what I need and then pack some of the gears I have below plus the associating accessories such as the filters to match the lens, memory back-up, batteries and chargers, etc, and pick the appropriate bag for them. I will also usually travel with more than 1 camera bag. A big one, hand-carry into the plane, and a small one, stuffed with not so precious stuffs will be put into the check-in luggage. During the trip, pick the bag depending on the need of the day.

I just did a test packing & carrying this morning..... 1st off, can't find a place to put my 580EX MkII, likely won't be bring it (my friend is bringing his 480EX... can share). 2nd, the Tripod is hanging lose on the top, Lowepro Flipside 400AW doesn't have 2 straps to hold the tripod.... only a tripod leg/foot pocket + 1 middle support strap. I've already DIY an extra strip for supporting the top of the tripod...... so, problem solved :sweat:

The weight is of course.... not as light as I would like it to be.... but also not so bad. Everything is nicely balance on my back. My only 'fear' is the extra weight of the tripod.... but believe that except for certain location.... Angkor Wat, Sunrise, Sunset and perhars nightshot. I won't need to take it out all of the time...... Street Candid, walking about... etc. :sweat:
