After the vote only I realise I am the ONLY one (so far) who use Benbo tripod. Any other Benbo users ??? Quick, give us your support!

Used to own/use a Benbo model 2 but that tripod met a terrible fate up north a couple of years back.

You mean it became a 'twipod' after that? What happened? Care to share?

another support here..
Benbo Mk I and Mk II
Manfrotto 078 & 055 Classic
Mamiya and Vista

Heather Angel who is known for her nature photography uses Benbo. One got to find out why the Benbo is so unique and a
class on its own. You can mount a baby Benbo inside a car
and use the Benbo Mk I or II in the muddy areas without problems. Perhaps the clones from other manufacturers may
surpass this unique design.

It met with a terrible fate involving a Euclid mine truck and became a squashedbo.

hi guys,

i am still quite unsure of a suitable tripod to get
want to get a versatile, 'light' tripod for digicams
budget ~$100 +/-
i am ~1.77m tall
got a few in mind:

1) Slik u9000
2) Slik Able 300
3) Manfrotto 190D
4) Manfrotto 190 Pro

any recommendations is greatly appreciated.
thanx.

Using some cheapo Giottos travel tripod that Minolta gave me. Thinking of getting a better tripod. Any to recommend? No need too pro - just needs to be stable, tall enough, can hold camera in potrait mode easily, and has a hot shoe. Do tell me more about the ball head thingy - don't much about tripods. Any websites where I can read? Ooo..forgot, must have spirit level also. And preferably less than S$500. Thanks!

I do not like plastic heads , does any one have any with metal head and metal levers ??

Get a Manfrotto 055 Pro. I don't know what you meant by the tripod having a hotshoe though. That should set you back < $200.

Well I was wondering if all tripods come with a hotshoe or not? This facilitates getting the camera on and off the tripod. Am I right? The ball head thingy is something that I have never seen before. From some of the tripod discussions in the early days at CS especialy by Darren, it appears that ball heads are purchased separately from the tripod?

You've confused quick release plates with hotshoe. A hotshoe is an accessory socket mounted on camera for use with external flashes, remote control, etc.

You can purchase ballheads seperately but some shops do combo deals which includes a basic head with the tripod.

The only way to go is to bring your camera down to the shop and try each of them yourself. Always buy the heaviest(most stable) tripod you can afford. Cathayphoto has a good range.
