snowspeeder said:Saw on your list you have both the telecoverter and the closeup lens. Like to check with you that with both of them combined, what are the results in terms of:
a) Focusing distance (at 200mm) from lens to subject?
b) Compared with using the closeup lens alone, do you get a larger magnification with (a)?
King Tiger said:Hi Snowspeeder and Bryan
a) i)Focusing distance (at 200mm) with Sony VCL-3358 closeup len, you can take the photo 30 cm away from the object.
ii) Focusing distance (at 200mm) with Sony VCL-3358 closeup len and Sony VCL-HGD1758 teleconverter, you can take the photo 50~60 cm away from the object.
b) There will be no larger magnification even if we install the teleconverter cos
teleconverter act as an longer distance range for closeup lens only.
The advantage for this combination is good as we will not scare the insect and butterfly away when taking marco mode.
Also, as both are high grade lens, the picture quality is
snowspeeder said:Thanks for the valuable input. My current dilemma is that I have to spent $355 for the teleconverter just to obtain a further distance of 20-30 cm away from the subject (as compared to using the closeup lens alone). Not certain if that $$ is justifiable. I took a close up shot of a bee resting on a flower just the other day with only the close up lens, and it did not even bother about my existence. Perhaps I should first try on other insects as well before deciding.
