If you can afford the original, go for it. Otherwise, settle for the cheaper alternative. Sigma is not too bad but at 24mm f2.8 it can bit a bit soft. Not sure if it's just my copy though.

FYI, I have covered (quite recently) several weddings using only a 50mm, on a film(!) SLR. Yup, HDB actual day shoot. Just have to adjust your style
