Can i know besides Nikon AIS suitable for manual lens, what other lens is suitable for nikon bodies.
As i have some M42 & CY & PK mount lens.
Thanks

Hi Jeff, I believe you can mount M42 lens to nikon bodies via an adapter. You can try Orient or PnG to find these adapters.

Sharing another old shot. 24mm PCE. D80. A rainy afternoon in Hakodate some yrs ago.

without conversion, none will work on nikon with infinity focus unless you buy the adapters with glass, but those are abit mroe ex and reduce image quality quite abit. if you can wait, get them off ebay. only about $7 a pop for those without glass.

its possible to rearrange the focus helicals on M42 lenses so you get infinity without shaving off the lens though. my set of lenses include a Konica hexanon 100 2.8, minolta MC135 2.8 and 200 3.5, fujinon 50 f1.9. the 2 minoltas are superbs and definitely better than their nikon AIS counterparts. working on a fujinon 50 1.6 right now.

so far i ve converted about 10-12 lenses, mostly from minolta MC, but also from m42, FD, Konica AR, OM and fujica X mounts. PK should be an easy convert but havent found anything i wanted to convert yet. i will do a CY carl zeiss one day, right now no $.

Can I check with how are the performance of the hexanon and fujinon? Always wanted to try exotic glasses on the Nikon, you got it pre-modified or just buy and then send for modification?

Ben I like the photo you shot your fiancée and the cello! Shot using which manual focus lens?

I just finished fine tuning the hexanon 100 2.8, so no real results yet, brought it out to shoot that day, but found out that the aperture wasnt fitted properly so it only opened up to 3.5, not 2.8. fixed now and i ll test again. on first impressions, its is very sharp. contrast seems pretty good, and bokeh is really nice. its also very small, possible smaller than the nikon series E 100. build quality its very solid too.

as for the fujica, i ve yet to convert the 50 1.6 (might not even be possible). but the 1.9 was really special. very very punchy contrast and possibly sharper than the nikon 1.8 wide open. sample shot:
e3b2e42b9c5b96e72201fded28702a56.jpg

almost no contrast added, so i was very pleasantly surprised.

the canon 55 1.2 SSC was another special lens, superb rendition, very very life like. but i could only afford to keep one 1.2 lens, and the canon wouldnt go to ifinity on nikon fulframe bodies(only DX) so i sold that.

I do the conversions myself. quite alot of work. spent about 3+ days on the hexanon which was one of the thougher conversions so far. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/thre...conversions.?p=6936921&highlight=#post6936921
thats just about what you ve gotta do.

Ben I like the photo you shot your fiancée and the cello! Shot using which manual focus lens?

thanks!. it was the 50 1.2 AIS on a D200. lighting was from a big glass window.

CY: CZ planner 50mmF1.7
PK: Sigma24mmF2.8
maybe i test out m42 on nikon body someday...

no problem. the 50 1.7 can be converted, i think the 50 1.4 CZ gives problems. the 135 will be easy, you ll prob be able to retain the M42 mount, then you can just change btwn nikon and M42. but in M42 it ll focus abit past infinity. i ve used the sigma in nikon mount, it was ok at best so no point. you should be able to find one in a native nikon mount anyway.

if you do find that you want to convert them you can always drop me a PM or something. the general rule of thumb is that anything longer than 100mm is convertible. anything shorter becomes difficult. also check out the minolta 135 2.8(MC version) its one fantastic lens, though a little prone to flare.

o, konica Hexanon 100 2.8 sample pics over here : http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/thre...lens-mount-conversions.?p=7058983#post7058983

Hi guys,
I am happy to see that this thread is still being kept alive with occasional posts. I am the original thread starter ( if you don't already know ).

I started this thread in a hope that those of use who love and appreciate manual focus nikkor lenses will post pictures and share their passion for these mechanical wonders.

I have no *POWER* to moderate here and even if i did, i rather not. I only ask that you observe the title of the thread seeks to focus more on nikon made manual focus lenses and i hope that the pictures posted or discussion here remains focused on Nikkor lenses used to take those pictures.

Thanks for reading! :)
