Hey guys,

wanna share with you my experiece with a shop in AMK this evening. Was looking high and low for a 35mm this week, so i called and this shop has the lens in stock. When i was there,
i check the lens etc... Everything was good. There was even the warranty slip which is white in colour. Nikon Singapore was printed on it too. Lastly, i check the serial number against the slip. End up, it didn't MATCH. Even the starting number also different. I was shocked and ask the salesman. He insisted it was original set. And reduced to price to $348.
Somehow the serial number didn't match, so i didn't buy. The salesman started showing black papaya face. As it was raining, i had my umbrella on the display case. As there was some water, the warranty slip came into contact with some water. This really shocked me. :o The printed Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd got smudge... occurred to me that this shldn't happen.

I just left the shop quickly.

Am i right to say its a grey set or fake set??? Box everything was so alike. :dunno:

And aren't the warranty slip yellow in colour???

Just wanna share my experience. :D

No offense to those who had purchased things from this shop before.

Definitely no offense to those who have purchased things from this shop before since you didn't even mentioned the name of the shop. :bsmilie:

One thing very sure, it the serial no. does not match, then you are not going to get the warranty that should come with the lens. Something fishy is going on since the salesman didn't attempt to find the right lens for the right warranty card.

Yupz, sometimes when a product gets too hot. These things happen. But the ink got smudged is the best part.

Meaning like telling customer its super fake????

:D

S$348 is really a cheap price for 35mm which most of the shops won't offer, so I think should be a grey set

usually the salesman will not offer a lower price for anything and when it does, something is fishy.

I'm freaking shock by your post!!!.... i was abt to go there to buy some stuffs but in the end decided to go OP since it is much nearer compare to AMK. What is happening to them? Just when they have some of the highest rating by CSer online...is this the start of their degradation?

the name of the the shop, otherwise how do we know.

Not sure how many camera shops are there in AMK, my experience with a big one there is that they don't sell grey sets. The Nikon warranty papers should come in 3 copies. The whole experience definitely sounds fishy, with the un-matching serial # and lowering of price.

Isn't the Nikon SG stamp chopped using an ink pad? So it's pretty normal to smudge when contacted with water. Luckily that salesguy didn't ask you to pay for the smudged chop. :bsmilie:

The nikon SG stamp is normally printed onto the warranty slip. If your refering to chopped using ink pad is normally the dealer's name. I had bought accessories before from there too.
I believe yes a certain shop may say they may not sell grey sets, but to really encounter such a scenario then the customer would knw is the shop a trustworthy or dishonest one.
:D

i suggest you report this nikon singapore. this is fraudulent.

even report police isn't out of the question. you almost got cheated.

How come you place a wet umbrella on their display case?

Yeah, any reason why you had to put your wet umbrella on their display case? You think you're the only one that is going to be using that display case?

maybe using a very compact umbrella??

The small umbrella was in a plastic bag. I was holding on to it when i entered the shop. When the salesman open the box, he asked me to leave aside to see the lens. Initially i loop it over my hand. But he just ask me to leave it on the display case.

Sorry if it occurs to you that i dirtied that display case. :)

sounds fishy.
wonder who will be the next person to buy it...

maybe using a very compact umbrella??

how's his umbrella even the concern here?:bsmilie:

anyway, just name the shop la,big name or small name, just throw it out...cause it wouldn't be good if one of us here gets cheated leh...and you are empowered to STOP that;p

I think Nikon just changed their warranty card. Saw a white one a few days back as well.

i thought the lens warranty card is always white in colour..worldwide warranty, unlike bodies.
