Based on your experience and usage, how does the Midland compare to the Motorola on built quality, battery life and reception?

How much are the SX700? Range is about 16km on paper right?

Midland is much better in all aspect. Another plus point is that is has a headset. You can set it to voice activate. When you talk you don't have to press the transmit button. Good for photography when you got both hands full.

I feel Sg should allow free licencing system so those who apply for the licence can use high power communication WT, those more then 500mW type on certain Fez for both personal and as repeater for free. This can prevent people from jamming the fez or jamming emergency service fez by purposely holding on to the PTT button while not saying anythings.

Walkie Talkie is a good to have during emergency as our mobile phone is not truely mobile as it depend on the base station for routing purposes.

If I never remember wrongly, WT in US, some model can recieve storm warning.

Brand: Uniden or Midland better?

Uniden model: no vibration, no water-proofing. nicer design

Midland: Vibra-alert and water proofing.

i've not much ideas on models but definately indoors would block. everything can block the frequency range. especially indoors. high power would be alot better. and depending on needs. =)
