Wait for D800 or buy D700 now

Funny thing is, I'd save long enough for the D700, it doesn't pains me to wait for the arrival of D800. Looking at the specs wise, even the D4 comes under my consideration (with a lot of repercussion that is....)

haaaa.. you are rite about the repercussion part..... wife don't care its a D4 or D24 or Red Prawn.... she see the price of the thing..... the next thing will be sleeping under the bridge playing the guitar....:nono::rolleyes:

Don't give the girls here such ideas. 1 Handbag = 1 DSLR, 1 Pair shoes/dress = 1 lens is fair. Harmonious relationship is good.

You are getting urself killed if u do that against them with shoes...... The cost will literally eat you alive....

Although she dont agree me spending much money on photography.. (she is happy with compacts) But she wont stop me from buying gears as long i still save the agreed monthly savings into the bank..the rest is up to me. Man..Sometimes life is really tough without much entertainment and good food..But its all good again once gotten the gear into my hands.

Ok, ok. 1 Pair cheap shoes = 1 good lens

Hmm, now there is a wide gap of prices for pre owned D700 on BNS.

There were a few below $2000 deals, gone as fast as bullets. At the same time there are also quite some above $2700 deals, which of course will be very very hard to sell. And some average ones like $2300 to $2400.

As the D800 pulls nearer, I am considering to wait and if the D800 rocks, D700 prices will go down further. Yes, rumored to be a different camera than D4, but ISO performance is probably still going to be an advancement over D700, which is most wedding and events shooters priority.

I am really waiting for D800, not because I am going to buy it but to see how Nikon is going to make the noise performance better than D700 when it is probably 36MP (here) for D800.

Hmm, I am not good with the overly technological details, but I was thinking even if its not as good at 100% crop, it is a bigger file, so sized down to normal web viewing and normal print sizes, the grain will also be finer too. With the excellent ISO performance of D7000, I am guessing the D800 will be a pleasant surprise in the ISO department. Not D3s/D4 fantastic, but most likely as good as the D700, or maybe even a bit better.

Well for sure the D800 will be better in many ways as technology have evolve proven by the spec's of D4 but to what direction the will make the D800 focus is the most important aspect. Never the less if those who have been waiting for the D800 is not satisfied by it after announcement can always go for D4 lol

Awesome.... let's just wait.

Will skip the first wave... let all the issues be resolved first then buy. Recall the D7000 oil specks problem, hot pixels when just launched...

I'd say, continue with whatever you have and "tong" as long as you can with your existing gear until the new product is on the market. With DSLR, the longer you wait, the cheaper it becomes.

4 to 5 more days to go!!!!

more nikon news .... hooray...

Will wait for real tests.... and real life "in use" opinion ;)

Of course is don't buy D700 now, D800 should be great!

Unless you find damn good prices ie below 2K.
