Voigtlander m4/3 25mm f0.95

Voigtlander m4/3 25mm f0.95 - multiple choice poll.

Results are only viewable after voting.

Some part of me wants to grab an M-mount lens instead so that I retain some platform portability with the lens.

Well, I would use one too, like the Leitz 24mm f/1.4 Summilux, but they don't work on m4/3 properly unfortunately.

A 24mm to 28mm prime, any of those as they're near the target 50mm focal length is what I would like from m4/3, and Voigtlander is the first to deliver.

I have to tread carefully with Voigtlander's new offerings though, especially after the 50mm f/1.1 where I am one of the very few who feel it is a poor lens, on both m4/3 and Leica (it finally got reviewed with the same results as I have experienced, by one of my favorite review sites -> SLRLens).

Maybe Voigtlander got this 25mm right, only personal experience will tell. Can't tell much from these sample images. In the meantime, will still be eagerly awaiting Panasonic's 25mm.

Borrowed a G1 and went for a spin with this lens just now...

I'm not a good photographer nor a good reviewer. Just some point and shoot with this lens when the sun went down. Hope you guys have a rough idea what this lens can do. All shots wide open. Please don't judge this lens based on the images that I took... my skill do not really do justice to this lens....

Hope you guys can give this guy a chance....

Just one feedback when I used this lens...

At f0.95, it can make the sensor see things that I don't even see with my own eyes...

Lovely set Chiff. I do feel this lens gives a good 3d render... do let me know when the new batch will arrive! ;p

Sigh.. I was just telling myself that I shouldn't spend so much money on lenses... *attempts to resist*

Most of the time, a futile effort... told myself countless times the same thing!

It's a slight top up from the Pan-Leica 45mm f/2.8. For a 0.95, it sure is a temptress.

Norton 25mm f0.95, shot wide open at night.

Norton 25mm f0.95, shot wide open. Night portrait. Shot few hours after getting the lens, still trying to get familiar with the superb characteristic.

Compare it to a Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 at US $6999.

Which one is not expensive? :bsmilie:

Noct 0.95 at 6999usd? I'll buy from u at 7500usd if u get hold of one. :)

If u can get one at SGD12000, u can count yourself lucky. :)

This lens is not for everyone. For those who know how to appreciate manual focus, will definitely fall in love with her....

So many people are singing the praises on this manual focus lens.
May I know why?

Is it because of the f0.95 aperture? Or is it because of the bokeh? Or is it because it is sharp? Or is it because it produces excellent colours? Or is it because u can shoot in low light without having to bump up ISO? For those who have it, do u all mind sharing the reasons? Thanks!

1. Pictures taken by Chiif and others look nice.
2. Decent Bokeh. Not fantastic, but decent. Still better than some of the bokeh taken with the 20mm/f1.7
3. Narrow depth of field afforded by the f0.95
4. Colors... seem to be the typical Voigtlander neutral.
5. Reasonably sharp wide open.

All in all, it's a nice lens. Not too expensive, considering the quality and all. You pay for what you get after all...

I am comfortable with manual lenses, and most of my kit is manual, excepting my 7-14 and 20mm. Might just get this lens, but probably next year, assuming i stick with the m4/3 system long enough.

It should be noted though, that because of the nature of the M4/3 system in that it needs ultra wides for the normal focal lengths, one has to be either darn close to the subject, or have incredibly wide apertures to get bokeh effect.
