Voigtlander m4/3 25mm f0.95

Voigtlander m4/3 25mm f0.95 - multiple choice poll.

I just feel that SGD1500++ is cheap for a F0.95. Yes, everyone wants a damn cool 25mm on a m4/3, however, only that 20% knows how to operate a manual lens and would afford it.

I think some here does not even slow down and visualise about a picture before taking, much less trying with a manual lens.

Exactly what I am looking for. A relatively wide angle large aperture prime for m4/3. And without the use of adaptors. So I hope that means it would be more compact. But must wait till October.

;)Just a note: 25mm is not "wide angle" on m4/3...in fact it's a standard (angle of view) lens. But I get what you mean... Anyway, that being said, I am interested...I love my 15m and my 40 m voigtlanders with my old Bessa, so I'm sure this one will be fun to use as well on my Epl-1 for night shots. I may even go out and get an ep-1 for this one. Just have to come up with the cash! Ha Ha :D

Cheers

yeah but this may go up to 1800-1900 depending how much mark up we will get plus the uncle Sam's GST :)

In ClubSNAP, I think it's the majority. Of course, those who have never owned an SLR that uses film, 100 %. :bsmilie: Just hold the shutter release and aim. That's all you need to do, right? I'm glad that cameras are so simple now but people should take some time to think about what they're doing.

I really wish this lens was available in Four-Thirds, not just micro Four-Thirds because it's the type of lens I would enjoy using since I couldn't care less about auto focus.

Got new rumours stated that Vogts gonna make their lens with electrical contacts. That will be brilliant. :PP

It is the majority of the younger generation in the whole world, I think. Like many users are drooling so much about full frame, whereas film users have had full frame ever since, even our parents and grandparents.

And being a telephoto lens user, I really appreciate the 2x and 1.6x crop :).

They should, even if it is just for exif info, and to activate the auto IS on Pens. Setting IS is always one thing I forget about while in the heat of shooting with different lenses, reminds me of forgetting to remove the lens cap when using rangefinders ...

According to Cameraquest, the lens will come with electrical contacts etc. So manual focusing will bring up the magnifier on auto.

You may be surprised at how many in CS use and shoot film...Here is a pic of one of my "film " cameras that I still use to make money when the job calls for it: http://snakephoto.blogspot.com/2010/08/sometimes-i-have-to-work-with-real.html

There are still professional photographers, sure, who are making money with something other than a 135 format-sized body but the majority of people don't even know such cameras exist.

I've read elsewhere that Cosina joined the Four-Thirds Alliance--they didn't just put a Four-Thirds mount on the lens, so they must have more in mind.

Sure, I remember mentioning Pentax as a brand that they should check and 10 people replied "What's Pentax?" as if they weren't a big deal in medium format. It's amazing that two companies can have so much mindshare and rumor can convince more than truth.

He just abandon m4/3 and joined the sony nex platform becos of the crop factor.

*lol*

Anyway, interesting lens that I would want to have, but I really don't need. So, I guess it is not so appealing to me. I pretty much don't need any lens anymore in m4/3 for my type of shooting, so this 25mm is at the top of just my Keep-In-View-Only (KIV) m4/3 lens list ....

What I really wish Olympus to come out with is an even better body to surpass the stellar E-PL1. If not, well, doesn't matter, can't help it. m4/3 will still be relevant for me though, because of the 2x factor, very useful.

I agree, I have owned and used several medium format (both 6x7 and 645) Pentax in the past and they were great tools! Of course most of us over 50 have probably used a spotmatic at least once or twice as well.

Just to see how the reaction of the community will be towards this relatively inexpensive f0.95 super bright lens. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Will you buy it?

A poll for the fun of it.

Means I belong to the older generation?:bsmilie: I don't drool over full frame, I just use what I have;)

That's good to know for everyone, only thing now that people might complain is lack of AF which isn't much of a problem actually

Who knows? Just wait and see, I realize I've been constantly saying wait and wait and wait :bsmilie:

Meh. I would just say sucks to be them if they want to be lazy about using their camera. Many of the best lenses in the world happen to lack AF anyway.

I won't be surprised if Panasonic releases a fast 25mm prime and it will cost as much as the Voigtlander with AF. Then the next complaint will be cost.

Well... I can't say anything else already, if not I'll be shooting myself in the head :bsmilie: Only thing I can say is, to each his own

Not really, because I said "many", not all . Even some or many older generation yearn for it.

Well, no problem to wait even if it does not come, already got the E-PL1, heavy usage already .

You forgot the "I'm on Four-Thirds, not micro Four-Thirds" option. :bsmilie:

I don't really know what to make out of this lens. Mounted on a 4/3 sensor you may not get a similar effect as a 0.95 lens on a 35mm FF sensor. So I think we have to wait to see what this lens can do.
