No flame war...

I got a JVC... bought quite some time back. The still pics sux.

Plenty of CA and colors are smudgy at best.

It's just like using 1st generation P&S.

That's why I getting myself updated since CS got this sub-forum now.

HD is only good for end users having HD TV.

To edit HD costs alot more - hardwares and softwares, plus the demand for HD is not strong.

the sony FX1e is good enough but cost S$4750 (export set).

me happy with my Sony pd170.

Ahh... I go for Panasonic, warmer skin tones, affordable 3CCD for low-end and prosumer, and minimal compatibility issues. I find Sony ergonomics pretty good, but the image cold and hard.

I quite lost touch with Vid cams for quite some time already.

But I liked Sony's Nite vision capability. :)

.

haha...u like 4 the "x-ray" capability ar...:bsmilie:

Panasonic DV = good for short film > Film like looking, soft tone.
Sony DV = good for events > better low lites operations.

HD not into it yet so not sure but believe be same as wat i mentioned above.
canon & JVC never used B4, so cant commends.

:)

Currently, if you want TRUE HD, only Pansonic is offering the best, unless you wait till end of the year to get the new Sony FX series, but frankly using HD now is abit overkill, Ultra high setup cost

STRICTLY, in my opinion for high end systems, I have the following comments on the brands

1) Sony, outstanding quality image, 1st class.
2) Canon, Great Functionality and ergonomics design
3) Panasonic, Jack of All Trades
4) JVC, Great quality images but always a bit slow in terms of technology.

Any 3CCD Video camera tends to perform better over the single CCD videocam in terms color. Very rich in color when taking outdoor shots. Not that good for indoor shots, hence lose outabit to single CCD Vcam. Dont bother about HD cam, its not true HD anyway (1080i)

thanks for all the replies.

lol...ur batt life so short????:o
i gt 2 batt...1 can last 1hr+ 1 can last 2hr+

You can make the battery last longer if you shut off the LCD, use the viewfinder and strain your eyes. This is what I do when vcam battery indicator shows 20-30 minutes remaining, gives me an extra 30 minutes.

I also got a 550 minutes battery but it is huge and heavy. According to Sony, the battery can last 12 hours if you use the viewfinder only.

I'm hoping to get something that allows me to shoot for a typical day for family outing. or more extereme a whole day wedding.

500 min should be more than enuf for LCD use rite?

U r rite.. currently oni Panasonic is real HD.
anyway, our tv and broadcast standard is not HD yet, 768 x 576.. so personally i will still wait and see on how our broadcast station progress.. if really need.. rent first!!;)

As mentioned, you should try different camera to see which suits you best. The camera that suits you best might not be the one your clients want to use though - cruel truth....

Cruel Truth Part 2: After getting the camera that suits you, you will need a NLE system to suit your editiing!!!;p

yah...remember for my last job, a 1hr video, needed most of one evening just to render for DVD...went for dinner, had a shower, watched some TV, napped, woke up, ah, 60s left...:D

can only imagine how long HD is gonna take...need to save up for serious computing power...
