Very poor service from Alan Photo, Funan

I guess avoid all shops in Sim Lim square, especially Alan Photo since so many have had bad experiences. I wonder why CASE or STB don't black list them once and for all

Orient Photo of Sim Lim Square is very reputable and I have bought a number of accessories and lens from them with no hiccup...

You really need to understand the purpose of and authority vested in CASE or STB. They have no authority, all they can do is to maintain a list, that not many people lookup anyway. And the rules dictate that if there are no more complaints in 6 months, the blacklist is removed. And if the store and affected customers come to some sort of an agreement, the blacklist is removed also.

John 3:16 is good though I didn't buy much items for them. I like Cathay Photo in both Marina and opp. Funan branch, especially the Marina branch. I'm going to do Sam a favor. I like his attitude when serving me. He always gives me good advice and with a friendly attitude. A lot of times I just call up Marina branch and ask him for quotation and he is always friendly to response me even if in the end I didn't get from him. You can quote him that David recommend you in the future. Despite they are more expensive at times, but I value the customer services he offered and I am willing to pay more just to be happy customer and he is happy too, isn't it ?

I find generally the staffs in Cathay Photo are pretty decent and friendly though I can't vouch for all.

I'm sure there are other shops giving good customer services, and this is the one I know that I can recommend. So if you want to be a happy and satisfied customer, give Cathay Photo a try. Btw I don't get commission from him or the shop, I just speak from the perspective for a satisfied customer.

He made his way behind the counter and took the camera I asked for. He also threw me a look. So i tried the camera, asking him the price and asked if is that his best price that he quote me. He said " Ya. you go other shop also the same. If not, they tell you cheap price for the camera, then they will push other accessories for the camera at very high price.so u want or not" all the while he gave me the look, not even a smile. I made my mind that day to buy a camera, so i wont want to go home empty handed. I asked him if i could get a new set. and this was his reply " have. but you got cash or not? must prepare cash to buy" WTF?! i was really agitated at the point but told myself to be calm, make the purchase and leave. and that's what i did. The retail guy did not even thank me, I was the one who said thank you and smiled after paying him and got my receipt. btw, i did not just buy the camera, i bought other accessories with it plus none of them were discounted even with so many purchases.

Im happy with my camera purchase. The accessories I bought from them are over priced, as I checked at cathay photo after that.

I'm sharing this, not to complain, but to warn of the kind of customer service you get at some shops. and at this, im referring to Alan Photo. Im a regular at clubsnap, and i've seen so many threads regarding Alan Photo services, good or bad. Mostly bad comments i've read about. I dont really pay much attention to the threads complaining about Alan Photo.

Now that I've experience it myself, I know, I will never make any more purchases from them.

well for my case , for cameras i will buy the camera from the lowest quote that i can find in funan then after buying the camera , i will just walk over to sgcamerastore - which is just 3 mins walk away from funan to buy the accessories , at least i wont be chop on the accessories - i will never buy accessories from the same people who sell me the cameras

I do understand all your buying needs.Make it this way, why don't you were in their shoe.For so many walk in customer just to ask not buying anything from them.How were you feel and your boss are asking for sale target.

Well. I think it's individual homework to go around ask for quote from different stores. My honest means they don't try around selling gray set and phrase it like it's real.

Personally, I don't feel that Alan photo is an honest shop too. There are many cases about them in this section alone, hardly anywhere near honest or reputable.

That's fake friendly customer service already.

Rule no. 1 in customer service; NEVER talk or joke about another customer to another customer. It puts the listener off.

Anyway, John shop is famous for fake service

I've gotten fantastic service, always from ap-sls. I only chooses either Ben/Steven to ask for quotes and to entertain me. Their prices may not be the cheapest but at least I don't feel pressured by them if I don't buy from them or test gears for too long. They are even willing to know what quotes I've gotten from other shops and try to match it.

Funan another story , although you could always approach the lady boss for better service.

i think is to individual la...if u always buy things from ppl and build up a good rapport with them, they naturally will consider give good service to you.

i bought thing from TK foto, Oriental photo, even sometime do enquiries with Cathay photo, they have been offering good service and services to me even at time i didnt buy but poked them for pricing comparison.

remember, you have the cash, you are the king. no body force to buy from that shop if you find them shitty.
