Very poor service from Alan Photo, Funan

y pay to suffer?

jus walk out...

well no one ever point a gun behind you and force you to buy from AP , do your home work online before buying stuff
simply deserve it

To me, most important is they give me best price. if they got bad attitude, i also bad attitude, just throw the money into their face. why go against money and get angry over such small matters. photographers should have more patience.
go and meditate lah

the fact that consumer only want best price and not service (like what said here, bad attitute then throw money at their face) is the reason why bad services is still common in SIngapore

for me, if their service is bad... i never even bother to buy, let alone throw money at them...

this has nothing to go against money... i rather pay %5 more somewhere else and give my money to someone that honestly deserve it

Love John 3:16, the best pple there!

something it is because u tell the saleman u r buying something, and then to backout last minutes will make the salesman look u no up cos he will think u r a no money person

ya...i understand that feeling...

So what if he feels that you have no money? The money is in your pocket why care how he feels?

yea true, i don't have to prove to anyone

if you actually fall for it, you're as childish as he is

Well, for me, i'm the one who's afraid of those shops with too good service and autitude. Almost kena by a black shop when i was scouting for the price of the d5000 before it came out in sg. My first cam btw, and since i'm also a computer guy, i have the habit of scouting before buying.

Too good service, good price, but ended up offering $2+k for a d90 body without batteries and stuff. Ended up going to AP, with a bit of KB autitude at first. But after i really show that i'm buying a camera, they don give KB autitude le, ended up giving advice and stuff after buying my d5000 kit.

Thus, shops that survive even with bad service means their shop got rep with good price. Remember, not all good things are good and not all bad things are bad.

they must have their customers

and if AP is that bad, they wont survive for so long...

as for BP? ... remains to be answered.

I've had two bad experiences with AP. The first was at AP Funan. I went in with my friend looking to buy a D3 and 24-70. We were the only customers, but the salesmen just chatted amongst ourselves while we stared blankly at them waiting to be served. We walked out, and my friend spent his ~8k at John 3:16.

My second experience with AP was at SLS this week. Both AP and Orient quoted me $620 for a Tamron 17-50. I would have purchased the lens from Orient due to my first experience at AP, but the two copies I tried there had front-focus issues (unless my testing was flawed). I headed down to AP, and assuming I was a tourist, the sales guy quoted me $685. Like WTH. No chance that I would try to beat him down to the $620 he's colleague had quoted me earlier.

I'll be heading to a more reputable shop and walk out the store with a new 17-50 assuming they have a good copy.

Any one has recent experience at Alanphoto? Some of my friends still have fears going to SLS.

can only say AP price is not that good..

Their price can be good, service almost never...

The price is high, and service make me feel like ghost, really, i'm not looking rich at all, maybe that's why they don't bother my existence inside their store

I will never buy any thing from Alan Photo, like what all has experience, i was being push ard, when i ask to see a lense, as if i have no money to buy.
Thereafter, i spent my money at TK Foto. better service, and i ask about screen protactor, they just throw in for free. The scree protactor dont cause alot but im impress by the service!
TK price is also reasonable! now i always go back there!

Sometimes, Alan Photo is abit too "attitude" compare to most shops. John 3:16 is one of the more friendly shop, Cathay is good but they like to focus on high roller. MS Color is well balanced in price and shopping experience.

actually I have some good experience with Alan Photo. I bought the Pixel wireless Trigger and receivers from them. The guy that served me is very friendly (although, I must say, he do not really know his stuff and ended up doing the setting wrong... Luckily I read a bit of info before going there... so I ended up being the one that solve the setting issue). Anyway, I couldn't remember how much I pay for 1 trigger and 2 receivers... but I believe the price to be pretty competitive at that time.

I have mix experience in TK though. My first experience was when I bought a 17-70mm from them, quite alright service from that guy behind the counter... the next encounter was still alright when I bought a Sirui ballhead from that tripod guy (that one that always stand at the tripod section).

However my last encounter was not good :( it was still the guy from the tripod section (think he is having his period that day). I am asking for an Optech Pro-loop. He answer pretty rudely and point to the bunch of straps hanging there. I couldn't find what I have in mind so I ask him for some suggestion and he answered very very rudely (almost like scolding me), "Take the Black Rapid nah!" So I left in a huff and went to Cathay photo.

So far... I have good experience with Cathay Photo (bought a bit of accessories from them).

Have extremely good experience with John 3:16... they made me feel that I am important. Got my 7D from them... get my bro's 35mm from them too. But their price might not be the most attractive though.

AP's quote was also inconsistent even when asking the same person on the same day, depends on their mood.

TK however is consistent as they refer to their files for pricelist, most importantly they quoted cheaper from my experience.
