Very normal street

so what is street photo? and what is snapshot? :think:

I think i have ask this question from my previous thread on beach shots.... i guess some of the ppl here care too much about the rules of photography, it kill creativity and innovations by putting too much restriction in life (my personal opinion).

The photos presents a few questions and I get it, the thing is I can't explain it

Other then the 2nd picture I pointed out which was good, the rest didn't go well with me.

Like bananadiver, there is no life in the rest, they are flat, doesn't showcase anything, doesn't have any mood in them.

Most of them look like a lost tourist shots just wondering around & shooting with a mobile phone camera.

Actually, in my opinion, the colours are not bad and images are clear as well. Just need to improve on story telling. Its normal as a newbie to cant tell story very well. When you take a pic, you must ask yourself "whats so special about this scene that i must snap it". Newbies normally have quite limited artistic eye. It takes time to develop creativity and an eye for art. Comes with experience and learning from people.

One more tip. Its important to accord title appropriately, then it can lead readers to align towards the storyline. Number labelling doesnt help in story telling...

For example, the nuns pic. If you could put "娥媚派下山了" (Er Mei sect has gone down from the mountains), the whole storyline changes.

Your pictures must have the wow or hmm factor. if not, it would just another pic....
Fellow CSers have given some very good pointers. Embrace it and you would improve.

ok sure.. actually i had a talk with Junku, i keep all the old photos because I want to keep them as evidence, the photos are taken before I came across junku.

i think Threadstarter provoke more "feelings" through his words than his photos...

regarding the capturing of the "soul"... it's not about using a leica M9 or whatever expensive stuff... it's how you use your soul to capture "life"... in the sense... your pictures are not alive... there is other concepts and basics you need to understand before something alife comes out of your photos...

I remember at leaast one other person saying abt TS's words provoking more emotions than TS's photos. Can't really be a coincidence? Tbh in my short time here its my first time seeing "suggestion rejected". :bigeyes:

Dear TS i hope u dun take offence, but what exactly give u the right to judge who is "no good"? I think in the spirit of learning, we should not judge each other like this. For me, i will only think i am still not good enough and i need to improve. However when i read a critique i won't think "aiya he no good what for i listen". Of course we are different individuals.

Perhaps make it easier for fellow enthusiasts, u just list a list of ppl whom u feel is qualifies to give u suggestions?

Dudes,

Suggestion got rejected is very normal in everyone life, we are not communis. Even in communis country u will still have to rights to reject suggestion.

Next abt the emotion in my words, I only voice out the facts, I dun write long story and fantastic English to debate abt my photos. Most of u find it offence because that I don't accept some opinions that not useful for me? And I do choose advices that I learn from, I'm not a trash bin who take everything, I believe non of you guys too.

Very good use of lighting. Mayb you should decrease the depth of field abit. But it's good enough though..

i keep quiet simply. no need to say thank you (this is too fake and pretentious) or even reply that person on the thread.

i definitely wun post something like what u did "i reject your suggestion" for sure. i think you are the one and only person on clubsnap that does this now so far by posting this outright.

so next time u will find yourself lesser viewers on your thread to admire your works. since those who view your thread without making comments usually will know what kind of person you are (might even turn them off).

anyway look, if u go read my posts and comments again, i am not even bashing you (if u have seen me bashing other threads before, my tones are different). but the reply you gave sounds like i am bashing you. :bsmilie: by replying "i reject your suggestion", this shows what type of person u are? to me u are not out spoken but narrow minded person who cannot accept criticism.

I agree with the above said, and also with RWC and Bananadiver. I think as we should keep an open mind with comments, negative or not. Instead of being overly defensive, why not try to browse around the S&C threads? See what the other guys are doing, I'm sure there are plenty to look from. Compare their images and yours, see and try to pinpoint whats is/are the difference(s).

Is it the composition? Perhaps a lower angle of view to give a different perspective? Will going in closer give more impact? (that imo is a crucial element of street photography)

And of course like what Bananadiver said, there are many other elements to create a complete masterpiece. Pre-visualization, mental imagery (how you want your image to look like before you even press the shutter). And also, some photographers choose to interact before taking pictures, which I think, is a valuable skill! it helps to open them up to you etc...

As I mentioned the above, i'm not in anyway superior or professional. Just another guy trying to hone his skill in photography. We are all learning anyway, take it with a big heart. I'm sure you will appreciate it in years to come!

bro, this is the way to learn.. it not bashing u, imaging u tackling a girl, if the girl rejected you but she keep quiet.. then u wil think that you are still her white horse prince. What will happen? This is just a simple example of life, one more example, if your boss tell you he will cut your pay next month, you keep quiet and nv tell your boss, even you not agree with him. what will happen? you said I'm narrow minded, but in which way? i'm here still open to let ppl critics? as I clarify many times.. I nv say my works is good at all. Since when I bashing you? i rejected because I don't think your suggestion is good enough. If some girl said you are not handsome enough do you think this girl is narrow minded? everyone must agree with you ? You may not agree with me, I won't stop you. But i still got my rights to disagree with what you suggested.
