Varavon Sliders - Lessons I learnt

Thks for these very detailed sharing. Most of the vids here are time-lapse but no sound. Does yr cameras pick up noise (motor, belt, electrical interference) from the motoised system? Besides the connection issues you raised, how is yr user experience in terms of ease of use and control? Are you satisfied with the regular movement (non-time lapse), I mean with the movement (smooth, speed, etc)?

no probz, did you manage to use for recent trip? or just busy eating and shopping? hahaha

Hi pettypoh,

No leh, I packed and brought it along but no chance to use it ... to busy eating leh ... wasted the space in the luggage ... next trip maybe ... :)

There's a bit of motor sound but i think it's acceptable. The other motorised sliders have such sound as well. Maybe ryan can do a test with his unit to record video to see how much motor sound gets picked up within camera?

Actually, if it's just for video work, i do think this is a pretty good slider system coz can use a knob to control the speed and button for direction. It's considered lightweight so one man operation is possible. One good sturdy tripod and head is sufficient to hold this up if camera is not too heavy.

Bit of additional info > the panning head doesn't operate as an electronic motor pan system that's similar to the slider. Even though it can still be controlled electronically using the controller, the control is not via an "on-board" knob as per the slider system, so for video, trying to do slide and pan (and operating both units using motor) might need a few practice runs first

Hi pettypoh,

Took out this toy from the storeroom ... :bsmilie:

Can I ask, with the camera mounted on the ballhead which in turn was mounted on the slider, when you took these timelapse shot, the camera was high enough to prevent the end of the slider from being in the frame or did you actually tilt the slider 90 degrees ?

Thanks

video test 4 about 240frames - day slide only bishan park

i think i either sloped the slider down slightly or tilted the camera up slightly
