hmm not too sure myself too..first time using camera with interchangeable lens..
i am using the 14-42mm kit lens..is it necessary to get the 17mm lens?

I think 14-42 is a good starter lens... if you want to take slightly further might want to get 40-150. Or portraits or for kids shooting indoor 20mm f1.7 panny is nice also.

it depends on the type of shooting you like portrait, macro, landscape, fast moving subjects etc. each will have different lens requirement but everyday shooting I think kit 14-42 is good enough...


Now I am using 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 4/3 len on my epl1 now I lost the compact size compare to 14-42 hehehe and also I have 40-150mm for tele shooting (but I deldom use the 40-150)
