Aiyah, I got mine for S$510 on 13 Mar 06 from CP with free 256MB card. Now heard HN have better offer:(

Anyway, does this camera require a highspeed SD card or a normal speed one will do?

anyway, so far no problem with the A610 latch for the flip LCD. Happy with it. also got the LA58F adapter for it to experiment with a reverse lens set up.

took some macro pics yesterday and posted here.

Heres another pic:

I don't understand your question. Using the macro set up or using the A610 alone?

A610 alone, no shadow. With reverse lens, there is slight vignetting at the 4 corners.

sorry slightly miscomm. what i meant was when i use the 620 to go close to the subject with flash on, there is a shadow cast by the flash on the bottom right hand of the pic. anyone had any work around?

Oh yes, there sure will be a shadow cast as the lens is in the way. I am using an external slave flash where the on board flash is used as a trigger....hence no such issue.

Hi
Anyone encounter hot pixel during long exposure (with 15 to 4 sec & F2.8 to 5.6 at ISO 50)? Just wonder how bad is it. Mine got aleast 3 hotpixel with this Manual setting. irritating. Although hotpixel is common on long exposure.

I am using a Panasonic flash which has power setting. Not sure which other brands to recommend as not so familiar.

Well done tchuanye! Very nice shots! Your kind of shots make me wanna simply give up my DSLR and go into compacts now... ;p I dun see how I can do better than u with my 20D + 100mm Canon macro...

Any difficulty with yr setup or combo for such macro shots? Focusing?

No lah, cannot commpare. DSLR will always have better performance, and some more with dedicated macro lens.

For the setup, the working distance is rather close, but the flip screen helps in composition at odd angles.

Focus, I use same technique as prosumer....lock focus, and move body (sway) and when image in focus, take the shot.

seems that many reveiws indicated that A700 is on par with A620 .. hence not worth getting .. any view ????

any one take macro in a tight spot. the setup is good but my operating environment does not permit me to use a side slave flash.

You can try MS Color. I got my A620 for $610(include GST) sometime this year end of Feb, It comes with 4 pcs AA 2100 GP battery with charger and 256Mb standard speed SD card, but these items have to be collected at Canon.

A620 has improved alot as compare with the previous generation of powershot series of camera with the swing out LCD. The camera response and focusing speed has improved tremendously. Write to flash memory speed has also improved alot. The macro is also quite good. It is rare for a P&S camera to have 1 cm macro. Power consumption with the 4 AA batteries has always been very good. You can also easily get any off the shelf AA batteries just in case you run out of juice while out shooting.

There is slight build quality problem with the hindge at the swing out LCD. It is not really a big problem and should not hinder you from taking great picture. It is a good camera for amateurs who wants to get into photography.

i got mine for 590 w gst .. w the charger w 4 2100 batts .. w 256mb hi speed card and also one kit bag .. lol

Hi Tchuanye,
Never knew powershot could produce pictures like that. I was contemplating to get a 350D or 2nd hand 20D but now I think I might get this to try out first. Thanks for sharing:bsmilie:

seems that the pri ce just drop by $60 .. after i got it less than 2 weeks ago .. darn
