Some initial reviewers feel that the pictures from the older 5D are sharper with more detail though.

after playing with the 5dii for 1 week i dun think that is the case
i am getting wonderful results with all my lens even at 100% crop with 5dii
razar sharp images esp with the 100mm 2.8 macro wide open

Can't afford to get a 5D MKII, so only go for 5D. In addition, getting new 5D MKII will need further upgrade like Memory card and PC to handle the big file sizes generated by new it.

true that the 5dii is more exp but not really true that u need to spend a lot more on mem cards and new pc
my 2 yr old laptop is able to handle the 5dii raw files on lightroom fast enuff
as for memory cards, due to the huge buffer, the mem card speed is not very important
have no probs with my previously bought kingston 8gb 133x (both video and pics at the same time)
in fact my super old 4gb microdrive works too for pics and video but not for both at the same time.

having said that, 8gb can fill less than 300 raws:bigeyes:

I've been doing assignments on Sports for this month and did it on a major major basis with the 5D mark ii. It's amazing how the servo feels much more improved over the mark i (even though the focusing module is unchanged)and the colors literally pop up. Just fresh from the oven to show how amazing it is, the servo that is.

If anyone's sitting on the fence on this one, I'll say get it! I had no idea a relatively "slow" camera could get the servo correct in Sports.

I'ld stick with the 5D now. If I were to get the Mk2, I will need to spend not just on the body, but on:
a) Grip, ridiculously priced at $500 and currently out of stock
b) Batteries, again ridiculously priced and probably no OEM alternatives for now since it's quite new
c) Memory cards, probably need another two 8 or 16GB cards on top of my two 4GB cards
d) RAM upgrade for my computer to handle the larger files

More importantly, I can leave without the additional MP, dust cleaning, high ISO etc.

b) Batteries, again ridiculously priced and probably no OEM alternatives for now since it's quite new got oem but need separate charge which may not be reliable
c) Memory cards, probably need another two 8 or 16GB cards on top of my two 4GB cardsonly if you shoot raw, if jpeg, 2x4gb is more than enuff for a days shoot
d) RAM upgrade for my computer to handle the larger files ram price very cheap now:bsmilie:

u 4got the micro adjustment, superb lcd, video.......
but agree that the 5d used at $1700-$1800 is great value for money
