Upgrading Dilemma

i went to your sites... ur pics are good.

so is that the reason why u r using a 7D and not the 5D? i saw in your site u owned a 5D before...

do u mind to share the pics of 7D and 5 D mk2 at iso 6400?

ya i think no need to go beyond iso6400...

Okay let me search for them. But is really hard to compare side by side cos I doubt I have identical photos from the 2 cameras.

Below is a link that contain side-by-side comparison between the two camera. -> http://rolandlim.wordpress.com/2009/11/06/canon-eos-7d-review/

Similar to what I mention before, based on my experience the 5DM2 have a 2~3 stop advantage in high ISO (2000 and above) compared to the 7D. That is the reason why when Bro "lighting" mention earlier that the ISO control of the 550D is almost on par with 5DM2 I was rather surprise that Canon had improve so much for a xxxD series.

The equipment is only as good as it's wielder . There are many ways to control noise during either pre/post processing. 戏法人人会变,各有巧妙不同

Agree?

I agree on that.

can you explain how the picture is "much better" when you use a 5d mark II versus a 1000d?

if you can't explain it, then it's probably the usual disease rearing its ugly head - "if i buy more expensive equipment, i will take better pictures".

at the very least, i'll give you that buying expensive equipment yields better image quality. also, it is your money. but it will not make you take better pictures until you work hard at it.

Well the quote much better is that whenever I shoot a picture wif 5DII the point of focus of the subject is spot on and like some mention the noise is very much better. But to be frank like I've said earlier I'm still on the learning stage of handling/shooting/knowledge of a DSLR. Like I find it stupid to say that I even don't understand the terms full frame, crop value.. etc, etc. Still way long learning need to be done.:dunno::confused:

by the way, learning is done via reading up, practising, asking yourself honestly what the problem with your pictures are.

how photography works will not change whether you use a p&s camera with manual function, a aps-c dslr, a micro 4/3 camera, a ff dslr, a sony nex... once you understand how it works, the technicalities, cameras are just a tool to get what you want. of course an expensive tool might be able to deliver more, but do you need that "more"? that's something you have to ask yourself, everyone has different tolerances.

just, for your own sake, do not buy blindly for the wrong reasons.

Nice input bro..:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Well guys, thank you very much for all ur kind and useful input on this. For once I do alot of thinking before making the next move.

1) I really need to learn more about the fundamental of handling and the limits of the camera.

2) I've seen this "The Shot" at channel 5 recently, I think having to interpret wat's the pic is all about is also a major factor in photography. I've always admire picture which interpret with go stories behind it.

3)Lens!! Having a good lens... much current lens sucks!!

4) Den comes the main body but like some say it depends on wat type of shot am I most like to shoot. Well for 1 I do enjoy shooting wedding and do hope someday can be a pro wedding photgrapher as taking the best memorable moment in someone life. And sports too. I'm into mountain biking and love soccer!!

Cheers guys!;)

go as far as your budget allows. It's more than just retail therapy really. A few months after getting my 500D I realized I should have gotten a 50D or 7D because I find myself in need of the functions that higher-end bodies offer like fps or better metering, focusing. There's a substantial difference in the control between the xxxD series and the higher-end series also. xxxD and 1000D's control is more friendly to people new to DSLR, but higher-end models' control offer allow you to change settings much faster, despite being harder to get used to

just go for it. 5dmk2.

I would love to tell you to get a 5dm2, however, i think brushing up on the basics first would be a better choice. Wait till you understand how to use the 1000d well for eg, focus well, correct settings and few other things about it, then upgrade also not too late. :)

Stick to your 1000D first. There's nothing wrong with it.

A lot of the wallpapers on interfacelift were created with a 350D, some generations behind, yet still looks beautiful.

Down to how much you understand the technicals and techniques.

If you really want to upgrade, upgrade your lens.

If you want to upgrade, body should always be the last in line. Better lenses, a flash, tripod etc will improve your pictures more then a body. Until you know what you're lacking in your current 1000D then only you should think of upgrading the body, and when that time comes you'll know what to look for as well.

if u do a lot of travel to less-than-friendly places, ud appreciate the more solidly built 7d than the 550. the extra $$ is worth it. and oh, of course, the extra functions and whatnots too. :D
